i was a teenage mom and you know what?? My son is awesome they both are and I was 21 with two kids...and guess what they are respectful , polite , kind. inteligent children ....they didnt ruin my life and so far I havent ruined theirs.........and I have to tell you alot of the parents that had their kids in their kids much later in life arent any better then a young kid at raising children,,,,,,just something I have noticed...more young parents take the time to coach little leauge, soccer, basketball boys scouts etc..........not to say that this is the way it is in every case just something I have noticed.....and NO it wasnt my parents fault I got pregnant !!!

should it happen? no. does it happen? yes. i'm just concerned about these young girls having babies and them being 'role models' for young girls. it really bothers me. you can't even blame these things 100% on the parents b/c regardless of what rules parents set, a kid who is determined is going to find some way to break the rules.

I have two cousins who are teenagers and pregnant right now and since i wasnt that far out of my teens when i got pregnant i cant say too much but its the best thing that ever happened to me its hard but i would never change anything

I actually agree with what you are saying, one of my friends had her kids young, not teenage young but younger than most, and from what she has noticed, old parents are the worst, they are clueless, and dont get involved in the activities like you say.
I am not saying all old parents but the ones my friend noticed.

Another reason for this possibly is by having kids young you are sacrificing but you dont know anything else, all you know are your kids...when you are older, 30's and 40's you have lived your life, the way you wanted, never really sacrificing for someone else, and its a hard thing to adjust to

This is JMHO...dont want to offend anyone

I think it's a shame when a teenager has a child... but I don't think that has any bearing on what kind of a parent they would make. Just like Kellybean said, she had her boys young and she's been doing a fine job of raising them. Shiitty parents can be 17 or 47... I don't think age has anything to do with the kind of parent you are.

I think it's a shame because the opportunity to experience things a young person should experience is taken away or limited... that's just my perception though... I do not have children and I never had any friends who had children while they were in their teens.

every person is different. some teenagers are very responsible and some adults are very irresponsible.

not all teenage parents are bad just like not all adult parents are good.

but still i dont think that teenagers should be having children.

as someone who works with kids, i see the effects
i have parents that are 25 with 9 year olds
it is pretty scary for the most part
there are a few exceptions

I always hear teenage girls leaving their babies in the dumpster WTFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that makes my blood boil , why get preg in the first place if you are goig to leave ur baby in the dumpster to effin die

I agree 100%.

I do think its great when a young person gets pregnant and takes full responsibilty and grows from the experience, but I think its too bad if they miss out on being a teenager.

i agree. but i do some people who have had children before they are out of high school. i just think it is a shame for some like you said because they do no matter what anyone says have some experiences taken away from them. like a girl in my high school got pregnant and since i went to catholic HS she was dismissed frmo hte school and had to get her GED she couldnt get her normal high school diploma go to prom or graduation- those are experinces that a young person shouldn't have taken away from them.

sometimes though i feel young teenagers are having kids and act as if they are like accessories as someone mentioned in the other thread. it is sad. and then we have those who feel ah well i am pregnant lets get an abortion (i know someone who has had 3 abortions already) but then those who do go to full term dump it in a dumpster (like on the news the other night) it is soo sad...kids having kids!! and i am NOT saying all teenagers are like this but it is sad when i hear my mom say she has a 15 yr girl coming into her office (she si a nurse) with her 2 month old infant (so she was 14 when she got pregnant) and the grandfather drove her to the apt and he was only 30 so you know he had his daughter at 15

its upsetting

Yes someone i know is a social worker and all day long she see's young girls in the system having babies and then they are in the system as well

i think it depends on the mother, not the age. ive known girls who have given birth at 13, 14, 15, 16....and some have been good parents, and some havent. alot of them just threw the child onto their mothers, and didnt take care of them. others sacrificed a lot and took care of the kids on their own or with the father, with no help from anyone. i believe it depends on the mother. i wasnt a teen when i had my daughter, but i was close, i was 21, and i wouldnt say i had to grow up because i was already out of high school, mature, with FH for 3 1/2 years, and i wasnt into the partying stage or anything like that so i didnt have to grow up when i had her. but it depends on the parent, there is a lot of growing up to do when you have a kid if youre not grown and mature enough to deal with all that it has...a lot of teens cant deal with it, and cant deal with putting someone else before them, especially a newborn when they need so much. you can have a kid at 47 and be as immature as a 17 year old, and be a bad mother.
