to think back now at how I was when I was a teen....THANK THE LORD I didnt have kids. I wouldnt have been able to do and expereince the things I've done in the past 10 years., get an education., work experience., leisure to experience my youth. If I didnt have these things I wouldnt be the person I am today. And unfortunaltey those young teens are still in the same mindset as they were then. They didnt grow as a person on their own.
And thats exactly wahat I 'want' for my children. I want them to have a good education (which surpasses college these days) I want them to expericen their youth, dating, travel, grow into the person they are to be.
Now Some teens do step up big time and take the responsiblity of their children. They juggle a job, a career even, school , and their children and they do what they have to do to still have their youth and take care of their children I give them alot of respect.
EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do what I want when I want. I dont rush home to kids. I enjoy my life, I travel, party, got my edu etc etc. I see this everyday and I wonder how these kids to it with kids.

Re: TEENAGE PREGNANCY!!!
As a teenager who was overly sexually active. lol. it was always a fear of mine so being overly protected was a pet-peeve of mine. so i made it my priority.
IMHO, if teens really shouldnt be having sex unless they are responsible for their protection. its not just about possibly getting pregnant but its about STDs, etc.
I'm the result of teenage pregnancy. My parents adore me, love and and give me an amazing life. However, I see what they were able to do and give my MUCH younger brother and it's a huge difference.
We can't stop it, but we can only hope kids wise up and realize having sex doesn't make you more of an adult, being responsible and thinking things thru does.
thats just my very humble opinion.

this is such an amazing story and congrats to your sister that she was able to take her responsibilities seriously and grow from them and have a wonderful family in the end and have 2 beautiful well mannered children!!!! she should definitely go give inspirational speeches to young teenagers who are pregnant or mothers etc her story could help them!!
i do have to say though...did she ever feel sad about having to grow up so quickly though?? like i know she would not regret having her children but did she regret her decision in having sex so young because she had to grow up so fast because of having a baby at 16??
Yes, even though she does not regret having her kids, she does wish that she she was able to have more freedom during the end of her teenage years. There even timee when i feel like she is jealous of me because I have been able to enjoy my youth without being tied down with kids (even my mother has told me this). Like sometimes she can say or do mean things to me & i would get upset, but my mother would tell me to ignore her, because she is just jealous because she can't or couldn't do the things that I have done. Even though she was wonderful with helping me with my wedding, at first she as not really interested because her own marriage was on the rocks. She was also jealous because she did not have an actual wedding. They got married on their own so she could move in with her DH on the Air Force base. No one knew they were getiing married until after it was done. But after a few weeks she became really excited for me & she helped me alot with the wedding.
Even though my sister pulled through & came out on top I know that there are many girls that dont. & I agree that girls that young should not have babies so young. Many of then are not ready nor willing to take on that kind of responsibility. There are many adults who don't own up to the responsibilty of being a parent. My sister is just the kind of person who ALWAYS take responsibilty for her mistakes.
I actually just found out that a 6th grader in my nephews school is pregnant. not sure how she is, probably between 11-13 depending if she ever got left back. My nephew in 10 in the 5th grade. My sister can not wait to move to get her kids out of that school district. The young girl apparently recently got her period for the first time (so she started to ovulate) and then when she didn't get she didn't think any thing of it because no one explained to her how 'periods' work. I wonder where this child's mother is, cause you mother is supposed to explain these things to you. & how are you having sex before you even get your first period????That is just crazy to me. Make me wonder if this girl has been molest by family memebrs or something. I just can't imagine have sex at age eleven. how do you even know what to do at that age????!!!

My sister who was 2nd in her class (meaning seconf highest GPA) & had a baby in her junior year of HS @ the age of 16. This was a BIG shock because she was always looked at as the perfect child. After the baby she dropped down to 3rd in her class. She never let the baby stop her from doing what she had to do. With family support, she still graduted HS on time & she gradutedwith the 3rd highest gpa, while working a PT during the school year. She got married as soon as she turned18 & her DH is in the Air Force & they moved to NJ to live on the AF base. She went to college right after HS & took a semester off from school when she had her second baby at the age of 20. Having this second baby only delay her graduating college by 1 year. They then moved to florida & they recently moved back to NY. She is now a Financial analyst working for Motorola @ the age of 26. Her kids are now 10 & 6 & they are VERY well behaved. She is VERY involved with there lives. She goes on all of their school trips & goes to all of their games in whatever sport they are doing.
My sister is my inspiration, because she did NOT let her teenage pregnancy be an excuse for her to drop out of school & live on welfare. She took it as a resonsiblity & grew up very fast. Even though she looks younger than 26, Many people don't believe she 26 simply because she is VERY mature for her age.
Wow, she is an inspiration. She should speak about her experience to other young mothers. Not to encourage them to get pregnant, but to show that you can go on with your life and be suceessful. Congrats to your sister!!

Re: TEENAGE PREGNANCY!!!
of course its not always the parents fault, it was mentioned in the jamie-lynn spears thread bc some of us feel in this case it is the parents fault but bc of other circumstances, not just this one...she let her 15 year old daughter move in with her 19 year old bf sorry if anyone disagrees but this is wrong.
There are teenage mothers who are great parents and yes a person who had a child at an older age can be a bad parent. I think you can't generalize and say everybody in this situation, but i would say that a large percentage its not the right thing to do. I have seen the effects and how some teenage moms are. Many of them still want to do everything they would normally have done at their age and they leave their kids with their parents to practically raise them.
But more than that, i just think some people should experience life a bit more before they have a child. I am sure when it happens it is the biggest blessing so its never seen as a regret and a child should never be a regret. I think if this was more of an isolated problem then it wouldn't be a big deal but the problem is how common it is and just how many teenage girls are having babies, we all know teenagers and we're teenagers and can safely say that a majority of them are just not ready. There are a few exceptions to this rule and i think most of us realize that

If it happens it happens. All I can say is that I hope they have a strong, positive support system that will help them!! I don't judge.

Re: TEENAGE PREGNANCY!!!
One of my best friends got pregnant at 15 and had a daughter. She stayed with the father and they actually got married this past May after 14 years together. They always lived together and raised a great daughter. So, while I feel bad for teenage mothers, it does work out sometimes.

I was preggo at 18 with twins. Its a shame how people judge you. I went through so much such as baptising my kids MY parish told me to get married first than come back. They are THE best most important little people to enter my life. It happens and to some teens it shouldn't because they don't take the responsibilty.

I always hear teenage girls leaving their babies in the dumpster WTFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that makes my blood boil , why get preg in the first place if you are goig to leave ur baby in the dumpster to effin die
thats the saddest thing ever, i just read today about the little girl found in the dumpster in elmhurst, so sad. i cant believe people can do that to another human being.
That is so sad, because anyone can bring a baby newborn, 1-3 days old to any hospital or safe haven, and drop the baby off no questions asked...people need to be educated on these issues, and if they are that scared, its going to be scarier going to jail when they could of prevented it
I don't know why people don't know about these safe havens. My mother used to work in a safe haven hospital. One night a young girl handed her just born baby to a security guard outside and left. He didn't ask and she didn't want to tell. He and his wife ended up adopting that baby! I get that things happen but take responsibility even if it means dropping your child off somewhere safe.

Goodness! I wonder if these young girls wonder about their child that they gave birth to after a couple of years have gone by or when they grow up

Of course I dont think teenagers should have babies just because majority of the time, theyre just not ready for it and a teenager should be having fun not raising a child but it happens and I would never judge someone for it. A lot of wonderful children have been raised by teenage moms.

Touchy subject.. While I wasnt a teen when I had my daughter, I am still looked at as too young.. I was pregnant at 20... I dont see anything wrong with it.. And it makes MY blood boil when people have negative thing to say about it... im very controversial on this subject.. i dont believe in abortion at all... My opinions but I dont want to get into it cos it only causes drama. My mother had my older brother at 16.. Thank God she did.. He is my best friend and he turned out AMAZING! She had me at 18... She was 19 years old with 2 kids... I dont understand the comment of 'WE have to pay for them'... What does that mean? I had my child young, NO one paid for her but ME and FH... NO ONE! All of my friends have children.. We are all young... We are all great parents, our children do NOT go without and we ALL pay for OUR children on our own.. I dont think it ruins lives to have children young.. I think its better to have children young, personally. Like I said touchy subject for me...

my mom was 20 years old when she had so i dont think age makes you a good or bad parent...please don't feel offended by what people say. As i said in my other post, its not directed at EVERYBODY who had a child as a teenager and many of us do know of individual cases where the teenage mom does a great job raising her child and if you did the same then don't take offense, you know the mother you are and how you are raising your daughter so dont let it bring you down at the same time that doesn't mean that alot of other teenage moms should be getting pregnant.

No I completely understand... I didnt read all the posts.. Just a couple... So Im just giving my opinion on the subject... Im not saying every teenage girl should get pregnant.. I dont think they should... And Im not saying its easy.. Its VERY hard... I think alot of teenage girls have the wrong ideas in their head when they intentionally get pregnant... I just hate the fact that ALL young mothers get grouped into the same sterotype... I had a bad day LOL... Im a little biitchy right now.. So dont mind me...

I actually don't even think teenagers should be having sex (even though I did)..but they just can't handle it. I actually think it is better to have your kids at a young age, (but around 21)not when you are 45 and don't have the energy to run around with then anymore (no offense to anyone).
There are some teenage moms that did/do a great job at raising their kids but it doesn't always work out that way.

I dont think its so much the age. I know ppl who had kids young and they are good parents and their lives are in order and all.
Its not the best situation probably b/c it can effect the mother's life ..putting off college, etc.
Overall I think its the person and how they handle it. Some people will grow up wuicker than they ned to and be fine, others wont change their lifestyle and I think thats where it goes wrong.

I agree! You said it perfect! Ill admit.. I wanted to go to college.. But its on hold right now.. .And Im ok with it.. I do plan on starting online college courses next year sometime... But right now its all on hold, and like I said, Im perfectly content with it.. There is nothing in this world more important than my daughter, to me at least... But there are alot of girls that dont want to grow up and put their child first.. Those are the ones that never should have gotten pregnant and those are the ones that get pregnant for the wrong reasons ( IE: keeping their boyfriend around, having someone to love them, etc...) Its actually sad, I found a website once about a bunch of young girls like 13 that made a list of reasons to get pregnant.. And I couldnt believe their reasons!!!! Ill have to try and find it....

Re: TEENAGE PREGNANCY!!!
I think its crazy how some people make such a big thing about teenage pregnancy and then there are grown women who cant handle a child. I think its a tricky situation and age really has nothing to do with it. Its a maturity thing.
