When you are home, you should spend time together, even if it's doing different things in the same room.
I like this...
I also think of the bedroom as something sort of sacred. You sleep there and generally use the room to make babies...You know?
Don't you need the bedroom tv for the porn while you have whoopie???

Only if self tells you that you need porn while you have whoopie. Or if you're out of RKT's.

Re: Televisions in the bedroom...
I am against TV in the bedroom - but I do have one. I feel that if I didn't have one in the bedroom I would probably spend less time being lazy in bed and more times doing things that need to get done. (although I don't think it impacts our sex life at all).
BUT for some reason - I can't fall asleep without it - I like the half an hour when I can clear my mind and watch law and order or whatever, I fall asleep better that way - otherwise I end up thinking a lot - about what I have to do the next day, money, stresses...which makes me stay up later.
PLus now that I am preggo I spend more time in bed and I love having the tv there. But I still am against it in some ways.
My kids will not have tv's in their rooms.

We have it and it's a terrible thing. Most nights DH forgets to set the timer and I wake up at 4 am to the third re-run that night of Cassini's Saturn Missions on the Science channel or whatever.
It's nice to be able to watch the later shows like ER in bed so you can just fall asleep, but if you don't shut it off, you sleep terribly.
and we are just the opposite. we ALWAYS sleep w/ the tv on. i could not imagine falling asleep w/o it.

What are RKTs? And why couldn't you just do it on the couch in front of the porn?

We have one...and i need it to sleep...I have tried lots of things...baths, reading, excersing... the only thing that gets me to fall asleep is the sound of the TV.... So if people thing that is bad...oh well.. We watch it together... And may even use it when we will attempt to make babies

Re: Televisions in the bedroom...
i should not be adding this, but here goes.
DH and i are on different schedules so, on most week nights i sleep on the couch in the den watching tv to the wee hours and he watches in the bedroom and falls asleep around 10. others may view this as completely odd and unacceptable, we really don't have problem w/ it. in fact, it has become the norm, LOL!!!! and in case you were wondering (as i KNOW some of you are), this sleeping arrangement has yet to hinder our 'love' life.

let me clarify, if you need it to sleep, then by all means
my whole problem is when people start to watch TV in separate rooms

Re: Televisions in the bedroom...
we're torn. we don't have one now, but at the same time, kind of want one but feel that a tv in the bedroom can kill the romance. but there is something cozy about watching tv in bed...i miss that. i had a tv in my room since middle school (against my moms wishes but they were gifts...got one, it broke after two years, got another, etc) anyway, i was an only child so it was different, i guess. it was more like company b/c in high school, i was alone a lot b/c my mom and step dad were wherever they needed to be, so i likedhaving the people in my room. but when we have kids, i really hope we don't give in. i'd rather have a tv in the den and in the kitchen. but who knows.

I don't think there is a right or wrong, just whatever works...TMI question though, so if everyone is falling asleep with tv on, that means you are intimate, then turn tv on and fall asleep? I guess if I had a hard time falling asleep the TV would make sense.

No TV in the bedroom. That is our place to be together and not 'tune' each other out.

Re: Televisions in the bedroom...
yes, we have a 1984 15 inch Sony in the bedroom. It's so old that we can't even hook up the satellite to it. But, it does get basic cable, so I usually watch some of my favorites in bed: NYPD Blue, Alias, etc.

Re: Televisions in the bedroom...
never had a tv in my bedroom till I married hubby now we have one in every room except the bathroom. With 4 people in my house you are guaranteed to watch something. I normally fall asleep in front of the tv in the living room
