Okay today is FMIL's birthday and we are supposed to go over there
Last Friday FSIL had 105 fever and she was diagnosed with the flu, she had a low grade fever even yesterday. She has three kids and none of them have any symptoms as of now. I have my flu shot.
FH called FMIL to make sure that no one was sick today so I can come to dinner. FMIL said in a nice way 'If Matilde is scared of getting sick, tell her she doesn't have to come - I understand'
So, I told FH to swing by and pick up her card and he pauses and says 'wait what? you are really not going to come?'
So I laughed it off and pretended I was joking, but I wasn't. Is that criminally insane NOT to go?

Don't go. Esp. if you've got the pass from FMIL NOT to go.... sorry, but your health for your wedding day is a higher priority than someones feelings.
I'd call her yourself and explain that you'd love to see her, but you just really want to make sure you're not exposed to germy-germs. She'll understand.

I would be afraid to go as well..especially cause I get sick every 5 secs.

In all reality she should respect that even the chance of getting sick is one you don't want to take before your wedding. You should call her directly and say happy birthday and explain your reasonings...I wouldn't go...

NO!!!! I wouldnt go either! No need to take any chances 4 days from your wedding.... Stay home, relax, and finish up all you need to do.... They should all understand!

NO, you are not crazy at all. I would def call her and personally wish her a Happy Birthday but just let her know that you need to take care of yourself with only a few days left and with all the stress and nervousness you have already, your immune system is probably not at it's best...but you hope she's feeling better of course.
Seriously though, the reality is that colds sometimes take 2-3 days to incubate....meaning if you catch something from her tonight (whether you realize it or not), you won't feel it until...oh,the morning of your wedding. You can't risk that.

There is no way that I would go. I am sorry they have to understand. Its not like you aren't going to see her on her next birthday...haha Sorry if that is mean but JMO. You can't take the chance with your wedding a few days away.
