My FSIL's bridal shower is late next month. I went to Fortunoff about 3 weeks ago to add stuff to my registry. While I was there, I decided to purchase her gift, which was all her bath ensambles with the coordinating accent towels that she registered for. I was going to put everything in a nice basket with a pretty bow. I wasn't able to purchase the coodinating wastebasket because Fortunoff was out of stock, so I figured I will either order it online, or just pick it up next time I go there.
Nosey girl that she is looks on her registry the following week & notices that all the bath ensambles has been purchased MINUS the wastebasket. My brother tells me this & I end up telling him that I was the one to buy everything & had to explain to him the reason why the wastebasket wasn't bought. I also told him NOT TO TELL HER IT WAS ME THAT BOUGHT IT!!! He told me that she was bothered by the fact that someone purchased all the bathroom stuff but not the wastebasket and has been nagging him about this for two weeks. She just couldn't understand WHY the wastebasket wasn't bought, and was going to go to Fortunoff to buy the wastebasket herself to complete the set. She even told me about this when I saw her this weekend I couldn't believe how much she was complaing about this!!!
Anyway, I just found out that my brother ended up telling her that I bought everything for her, and the reason why the wastebasket wasn't purchased.. WHY??? To stop her nagging and spare my feelings. MY FEELINGS??? I found it HUMOUROUS that she was nagging about this meanwhile she would have felf dumb when she found out THAT I was the one that bought it for her. I wanted it to be a suprise and now my brother opened his BIG FAT MOUTH! Whatever. My mom just told me about this & because Im pissed, I am going to return everything to Fortunoff on Saturday & purchase a different gift as it gets closer to the shower. Am I wrong for doing this?? I mean serious!!!

I can't even tell you how bothered I am by this.. for my FSIL being so f'in nosey & such a damn nag, and for my brother opening his big FAT MOUTHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

She didnt even have her shower yet and was bugging out that the wastebasket was not purchased yet??? that is funny! I agree with you, she shouldnt have been complaining in the first place about such a minor thing!

That is crazy. She seems a bit nutty!!!! I would not even waste my time going to return everything. Just give her what you got her MINUS the wastebasket. LOL.

I would feel like returning it also if that happended to me. But on the other hand, dont waster YOUR time and energy. Better yet, just hand it to her Unwrapped and make a comment like, since you already new, I figurered I didnt have to wrap it and make you waste your time acting surprised.

I think it's honestly psychotic of her to make such a big deal out of it! You were not wrong, and I'm sorry your brother ruined the surprise, but I'm sure it was just to shut her up and bring the 'obvious' to light.
I agree! I don't think you should waste another second of your time going back there, returning, then shopping around for something different. If she wasn't so nosey, should could have enjoyed her suprise! So she really ruined it for herself!

i'm actually feelin bad for your brother here...if she was this OCD about a trash can... what else does she nag him to death about??? i woouln't be mad at him for tellin her- he just got tired of listening to her whine... she needs to calm down and wait till after her shower to worry about everything..... i would be tempted to not go back and get it... just to spite her... but i think you just have to keep the peace--

This would be my mean, nasty, horrible streak coming out, but if this happened to me, I would buy the stupid wastebasket and NOT give it to her. Instead, after the shower I would return it. That will be the only thing that will teach her a lesson.

I'd be upset also, I wouldn't go thru the hassel of returning it, because its not worth it nd then she might start B*tching even more. And I dont think you Deserve the headache. But I wouldnt buy the waste basket (LOL), or if you really wanted sweet revenge - I would purchase the basket and then return right before her shower.

Absolutely!!! She shouldn't have been so nosey. And if she felt she had to peek, then she shouldn't have said anything. I'm so sorry for you, but there is no way I would drive myself crazy returning gifts, picking up new gifts, for someone who is apparently being very ungrateful. She should be thrilled with anything people choose to get her. Just b/c you do a registry doesn't guarantee you every item on it.

I totally understand you wanting to return the gifts and get her something different. If it was me, I would proably think about that but I would decide not to spend the time it takes to return it and shop for something else. Just do what is convenient for you.

I agree EXCEPT for the part about getting the waste basket, I say make her buy it her self!!!
Although If it was me I would be so pissed off,m that I would return it all and get her something else becasue I know it would drive her crazy, the next time she looks at her registry.
Also if you do decide to buy her something else don't tell your brother.
