My FSIL's bridal shower is late next month. I went to Fortunoff about 3 weeks ago to add stuff to my registry. While I was there, I decided to purchase her gift, which was all her bath ensambles with the coordinating accent towels that she registered for. I was going to put everything in a nice basket with a pretty bow.
I wasn't able to purchase the coodinating wastebasket because Fortunoff was out of stock, so I figured I will either order it online, or just pick it up next time I go there.

Nosey girl that she is looks on her registry the following week & notices that all the bath ensambles has been purchased MINUS the wastebasket. My brother tells me this & I end up telling him that I was the one to buy everything & had to explain to him the reason why the wastebasket wasn't bought. I also told him NOT TO TELL HER IT WAS ME THAT BOUGHT IT!!! He told me that she was bothered by the fact that someone purchased all the bathroom stuff but not the wastebasket and has been nagging him about this for two weeks. She just couldn't understand WHY the wastebasket wasn't bought, and was going to go to Fortunoff to buy the wastebasket herself to complete the set. She even told me about this when I saw her this weekend I couldn't believe how much she was complaing about this!!!

Anyway, I just found out that my brother ended up telling her that I bought everything for her, and the reason why the wastebasket wasn't purchased.. WHY??? To stop her nagging and spare my feelings. MY FEELINGS??? I found it HUMOUROUS that she was nagging about this meanwhile she would have felf dumb when she found out THAT I was the one that bought it for her. I wanted it to be a suprise and now my brother opened his BIG FAT MOUTH!
Whatever. My mom just told me about this & because Im pissed, I am going to return everything to Fortunoff on Saturday & purchase a different gift as it gets closer to the shower. Am I wrong for doing this?? I mean serious!!!

I can't even tell you how bothered I am by this.. for my FSIL being so f'in nosey & such a damn nag, and for my brother opening his big FAT MOUTHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

I'm in the camp of NOT returning it too. Shame on her - she ruined her own surprise. I would give her the gift sans the wastebasket - let her go to Fortunoff and get it herself.

As for your brother, I wouldn't be so upset with him - she must have really been nagging him for him to reveal it.

I would be mad too. she shouldn't even be looking, nevermind complaining about it!! I would not even bother exchanging it. too much effort.

i would say keep the gift dont go thru all the bother of returning it all just becuase she spoled it for her self, its not worth it, and let her know how much that bothered you

I wouldn't waste my time returning the stuff...let her buy the basket herself. In all honesty who really gives a crap why a damn garbage can wasn't bought someone else will buy it

that's messed up. It's one thing for her to wonder who might have bought it, another for her to mention that the wastebasket was not purchased, and yet another for her to nag enough until your brother told her who got it....oh boy .....people are crazy.
I wouldn't return it, why should you go out of your way for her now? Stick with the gift you got. It's a beautiful gift and she ruined it.

Yes u have a right to be angry and pissed off!
However don't return the gifts she knows u got it for her and she must feel stupid already. Knowing that she complained to u and all. if you return it you will be bringing yourself to her level. However I would not go and get the waste basket!

She will feel stupid just knowing you know how she acted!

She's crazy, usually people buy different parts of a set anyway. She should NOT have been talking about her gifts, why would she assume that you didn't give her the gifts. You can't really return it now because she knows you bought it. I'm sure she's very embarassed about complaining to you.

What a brat, she can't wait until the shower to see if she gets the basket! You should return everything to just spite her, so when she goes on the registry and sees that its back on, she will feel like a complete @ss.
