tell me I'm not crazy

so when we bought my ring and started this disaster I really wanted a purple sapphire instead of a diamond. its more me. he hated it and bought a diamond.

since my setting is all messed up and we ordered 2 new ones, my diamond is all wrapped up in a baggie. the jeweler said we could return that and get what i wanted bc of all the problems.

so...what would you do?

Talk to him.....
Tell him how much the Saphire means to u....

if you truly don't like them, they get what you know you will wear. you have to put that ring on every day so go for it!
but i would check with Ant first just so he feels like he had some say. maybe he got you the diamond because he felt like you would have still wanted it

i dont hate diamonds. i do love them but i feel like id like the sapphire better. we've always been a non traditional couple and i love the idea of havinga non traditional ring.

he feels like people will think he's cheap or look down on him if he gets me a purple sapphire instead ofa diamond.

now...ive seen purple diamonds but they're like 18k lol

i agree you should get what you like!

BUT, i went thru same dilemma of changing of my ring

and when it came down to it I dont think Id want to change the center stone, it has sentimental value!

what you if you kept center stone but put purple sapphire accents on the ring??

Or can you keep center stone, make it into necklace?
and then get sapphire ring?

IF you realllllly dont think youll feel guilty or bad or sad that you gave up the stone then totally get what YOU want! its your ring on your finger forever!

You really should get what you like!
One of my BM is everything but traditionnal and her ring is nothing like a traditionnal engagement ring, but everytime I look at it I think it's the most beautiful engagement ring! A diamond ring would just look weird on her!
So go for it girl!

I think having the purple sapphires as accent stones is a great compromise.

My nephew's fiance really didn't want diamonds, she wanted an emerald. The ring is gorgeous, and she loves it but it doesn't look like an engagement ring.

My MOH is the same way.. she didn't want a diamond e-ring instead she got a HUGE citrine stone it was beautiful.. at the end of the day YOU have to wear it so it should be what makes you happy

ok so now I;m on the hunt for an almost clear slightly tinted lilac asscher cut sapphire.

hmmm this is tough lol.

I am prob gonna get some flax for this but I kinda feel like its up to him to pick it out. Mabey I am to traditional in that sense but I feel liike he is giving me this ring to me as his promise of commitment. If he took the time to pick one out he felt is special and beautiful I wouldn' t wanna change it. My ring is pretty, not really my style, but knowing he choose it for me with such special intentions makess it sooooo beautiful!

i hear ya but i've gone through 3 settings and right now my diamond is in a baggie hidden away in my house. the setting thing has been a nightmare and he keeps telling me to pick out what I want etc. so that's what i want. and i told him originally what i wanted and he said no.

Buuuut, I had always wanted a sapphire instead of a diamond, but FH surprised me with a sparkly diamond, and I can't say that he didn't end up making the right choice!

my engagement ring is a ruby as the main stone and 2 smaller diamonds to each side, and my wedding band is alternating rubies and diamonds because i dont like diamonds alone
