Re: Tell me what you think...PLEASE
you should put their name on the invitation for the family member (don't just write guest though, write out their name)- and obviously you send it to the family member's address.

Re: Tell me what you think...PLEASE
I wouldn't bother. I would put their names on their SO's invite. You don't want them to RSVP separately.

Re: Tell me what you think...PLEASE
She is absolutely wrong. These 2 are guests.
what I did (because in MY MIND, it's not logical that a guest at my wedding can bring their own guest):
I wrote on the outter envelope:
Mr. Anthony Jones Miss Jane Smith 123 Your Stupid Street Nowhere, NJ 12345
on the inner envelope (I did the inner informally)
Anthony and Jane

Re: Tell me what you think...PLEASE
FI and I were invited to a wedding prior to getting engaged and his name was on my invite. It was addressed to both of us (my house) and his name was on the inner and outer envelope (my name & his name on the inside).

Re: Tell me what you think...PLEASE
If they have been with their significant others for a year or more then def put their so's name on the invite. If anything did happen btwn them before your wedding you could always tell them that they are welcomed to bring another date if they wished. Send your fmil, fsil, and fbil each their own invite. This way it specifically states taht they are each allowed to bring a guest. There is no reason that you should send their so a separate invite. They are to be your guests just because they would be accompanying the siblings, not because they are friends of yours.

Re: Tell me what you think...PLEASE
Do they live together? If they do, then you put both of their names on the envelope (ladies first)...if not, ettiquette states that each party gets their own separate invite (this is if they don't live together and is probably what your FMIL was referring to)...but who cares about ettiquette? I'm sending mine to the girls and writing their boyfriend's name on it...freak ettiquette on this one, invites are precious and costly!

Re: Tell me what you think...PLEASE
If FH wants them to get a separate invite, why not do it? Surely if something happens in their relationship they won't come! Just then I wouldn't write and guest on any of the four invites...toehrwise you could have extra people....

Yep--we're just putting the SO's name on the invite to the 'main' person.

My SIL's BF did not get his own invite. I put his name on with my SIL.
