So, we had the inspection... went pretty well, except for a huge thing! The house was being treated for termites. They had a watch contract... Centricon or something and apparently had termites like 2 months ago. Should I withdraw the bid? Should we pull out?

Re: Termites? What to do?
the garage. i am calling terminix tomorrow to find our the details, but am a little nervous. I dont know how bad it is, but the inspector said he presently did not see them. They told us it was preventative treatment b/c a house had them down the block. Are termites something that would cause you to abandon ship?

If it was a bad enough case, yes I would jump ship (especially if they attacked the structure). Before you get too worked up, wait until you get a report on what exactly happened. It could have been preventative and it could have been a small amount that did no damage. I know it is stressful to wait and not know but don't give up hope
Excellent advice. Have your own exterminator come in to inspect. If its THAT bad then yeah bail out.

Termite seem to be commom on LI. Our house too had preventive treatment done, no damage and never had an infestation. I would do what the girls said, call in someone and see if there is any damage and how bad.

Re: Termites? What to do?
Swags is right, it is hard to find a home on LI that hasn't been treated for termites. Very common on LI, and springtime is swarming season. The fact that they are treating it is a good sign. But still, have your own people come in to assess the damage. Is the garage attached to the house?
ETA- sorry just read that it was a preventative treatment. This is not a deal breaker, even if there was an infestation that was taken care of. As long as you are still structurally sound it ok.
