Is Bush worse for home buying?

Re: Thank you Mr. Bush...

maybe i am missing something, but exactly what bearing does the president whether that be bush or kerry have on our housing market?

no matter who is elected, IMO we are not going to see a significant change in the next 4 years. LI is an extremely sought after area and as long as the demand is there (is and will be) prices are not going to fluctuate significantly. interest rates are on the rise, and prices will drop as a result. but (unfortunately) we aren't going to see major changes.

If you speak to some people he's worse for absolutely everything. Got a clogged toilet?? Blame Bush!! Bad Hair day?? Definitely Bush's fault.

The lack of buildable land will also keep the demand high for housing. When there's a big demand, prices tend to drift upwards. The higher interest rates will only slow this upward drift.

I thought it was common knowledge that mortgage rates were going to go back up after election time. Which is the exact reason we just bit the bullet and bought in April.

It was interesting to watch yesterday how the stock market felt about Kerry watching it tumble as he was leading in exit polls.

Poor Tereza she probably lost some money yesterday!

Bush has been good to my family and is part of the reason we are in the house we are in today so yes. Thank you Mr. Bush!

And by the way, regardless of how you feel about Bush, the correct way to address him when referring to him is President Bush, not Mr.

Wouldn't the housing prices have more to do with local leaders?

Personally the lower mortgage rates are made it possible for me to buy a house.

I also dont understand - mortgage rates are at historical lows -- I was able to buy a house under this administration.....The fact that housing PRICES are up is due to high demand, low inventory -

I dont see how you can blame Bush for houses costing so much. Doesnt it make sense to blame the people that are selling there homes for exumbernat amounts???

I agree, I don't think a new president will make the housing market change overnight. Don't forget that inflation plays a key role in this too.

That maybe true....In the last 4 years I have never referred him as 'President' Bush. I just can't do it. He's either Bubba (my favorite), Dubbya, or just Bush.

Yes you do indeed.

I just cannot fault the guy for keeping interest rates low... which drove the housing market to new hights. Bought my place at a nice low interest rate like Don said.

Also can't knock the nice tax bracket cut I received two years ago... as well as those tax rebate checks and capital gains relief.

Well, I certainly got a great mortgage rate.

However, I was NOT impressed with the wedding card that I received from President and Mrs. Bush...

people just think short term personal gains, no one cares about the future and the big picture...the debt that bush has gotten us into is totally out of control and it WILL come back to bite everyone in the ***...

enjoy your low rates as will i, however make sure you save for tougher times ahead
