Thank you's - when to send?

Question - I have received a couple of wedding gifts (checks) from people who will not be able to make my wedding. When would you send a thank you? Would you send it right away or wait to send it with the picture after the wedding?

I decided to do a thank you now and then send a pic thank you after, if I remember and have enough...this way I am covered if I don't send that pic thank you.

I think the general rule of thumb is that if you receive the gift more than two weeks before your wedding, you should send the thank you right away. Otherwise you can send it with all the other thank yous after the wedding.
