Thatched Cottage

Hi!

We are SERIOUSLY considering Thatched Cottage for our wedding. We loved the place and loved Maureen, the consultant we spoke to. The only thing that's holding us back is the size of the ballroom. We have an invite list of apx. 250, so a wedding size of, I don't know, 220-230?

Has anyone ever been there for a larger wedding? They say they can fit up to 275 comfortably, 290 is tight, but I just wanted a little first-hand confirmation of this to make me feel more comfortable committing.

Thanks!
Shira

Thatched Cottage

Hello! Thatched Cottage was my 2nd choice and only because of the ballroom size! We guaranteed 175 but I was worried about the 200 people and the dance floor size being a bit smaller. That being said my cousin went to a wedding of 175 there and said they fit comfortably. Have you looked anywhere else? I wound up at The Estate at East Wind comparable price to Thatched and the reception room was much much larger. Good luck :)

We really liked The Estate too! The only thing that kept us from booking there was that it's a little too far for us. I'd love to hear from someone who had been to or had a larger wedding at Thatched. They say they can do it, and the price is definitely right, but I want everyone to be comfortable. Argh :(

Oh Man! Maureen is amazing though, I even e-mailed her after I booked just to thank her for her professionalism and opinions. You can't beat the cocktail hour either. I think you should do it!! maybe more people will answer. I do have quotes of other venues if you need any. My sister did Majestic Gardens years ago it was great!

Hi I don't really know from experience, but I guaranteed 200 people for my wedding in Sept. I did come across an old post on here that might help... Type in 'thatched cottage ceremony?' And check the search title only box.
