I just thought i'd try to find the others who are having a SPECTACULAR wedding at the Thatched Cottage! I am so happy to be getting married there..the food is awsome and everything is beautiful!
Just thought i'd share in a gush with others...or maybe to share information or advice from ones with experience?

That sounds smart!!
For a Sat night where most folks are either staying within walking distance or using transportation we are providing, I know there will be big drinkers at ours. Plus lots of Irish folks . It's a sterotype, but so true in my family!!
We're doing the combined salad/app so there aren't so many courses of food. I'm definitely planning on being there to eat during cocktail hour!!

OK...so question:
Hotels? For those suggesting hotels near the Thatched Cottage, what hotels are you using???
I could only find the Melville ones and they aren't TOO close..still like 20 minutes away!

We have 15 rooms at the Chalet Motor Inn - no restaurant or anything, but a good rate ($78) and close!!
And we booked 20 rooms at the Hilton ($128). We are extending our limo service for an hour to pick up people there to take them to the TC. That way it's not so far and they can drink.
The Marriott was booked, or else I would have gotten some rooms there too.

Not sure which direction you'd like your hotel, but the Holiday Inn Express in Hauppauge (TC's preferred) does offer a complimentary shuttle for your guests to / from TC as long as 10 room nights are booked. Might be a good option especially if both your ceremony and reception are at TC.

I think I'll end up blocking off rooms for people at the huntingto hilton.
However, I want to keep my options open; does anyone know how long it takes to go from the TC to the holiday inn express?

We didn't have very many OTTers, but I did block off 15 rooms at the Huntington Hilton for my guest (only about 10 rooms booked up). THese guests didn't utilize the shuttle service, and mainly hitched rides with other guests, etc.
We don't live in LI, so I also stood at the Hilton the night before my wedding and DH and I stood in the suite on our wedding night.
No complaints with the Hilton whatsoever

Same here - my parents also managed to get a suite for themselves for the night before and of too at the 'bridal rate'.
I was a little bummed at first to be getting ready at a hotel instead of my house, but I'm actually getting excited about it now. It will certainly be cleaner than my house!!

Girls who went with the Hilton-
I am thinking of using the bridal suite on the day of the wedding as a hospitality suite for guests who have nowhere to go between the church and reception (We have a bit of a gap). I want to offer light snacks and drinks and a place for people to hang out for maybe an hour or so.
Do you think the suite in the Hilton would work for this type of thing? I imagine there would be between 40-50 people that would show up

hi ladies!!! i'm back and am psyched to see this thread! we had our wedding there about a week ago and i have to say that it was awesome!!! everyone has commented that they loved the grounds, the food, the service, everything. i will do my review later, but also the place looked so romantic and we are sooooo happy that we chose it. very cool.
