I just thought i'd try to find the others who are having a SPECTACULAR wedding at the Thatched Cottage! I am so happy to be getting married there..the food is awsome and everything is beautiful!
Just thought i'd share in a gush with others...or maybe to share information or advice from ones with experience?

Its a beautiful place. If I was getting married there, I'd want them to take down the help wanted sign that they usually have hanging.

Re: Thatched CottageITES!?!
We're having ours there and I'm very excited!
Everything we saw there was exquisite and I can't wait to do the final arrangements with them!!
FeliciaDA just had her wedding there and gave it an A++++.
My only concern is them draining the pond - it seems to happen everynow and then, but I'm not sure how we can find out when that happens.
But overall I'm thrilled with our choice!

Re: Thatched CottageITES!?!
Hello fellow Thatched Cottage brides. I too am sooo excited about getting married there. I was just there last week becuase I had wanted to see if a possible centerpiece looked good. I know its way early to think of that but the candle holder for it was on sale and I wanted to make sure it looked good beofre I bought about 14 of them. Anyway, a coworker of my moms is going to a wedding there tonight so I will let everyone know what she tells my mom. My mom told her to take notes, lol.

Re: Thatched CottageITES!?!
Very good friends of the family attended a wedding there about 2 weeks ago & said the place was lovely & the food & service were great.
They particularly liked the CH & the gaden views.
This couple has been to about 7 weddings this year, so they have a means of comparison!!!!

Re: Thatched CottageITES!?!
I think my favorite things when I first went there were:
-Food; so freekin' good. -Butter swan; how cute is that. -Small place, nice an intimate feeling...compared to country clubs and such -I loved the family-owned nature of it all -The fact that 2 of my favorite paintings ever are hanging in the loby! I walked in and was like 'Um...why are we in my future living room!' well..save for the muave paint and frilly things above the doors...i'm not into pink.
Also...the wedding i saw was...mid October...so I saw the place even later in the season than my own, and it was beautiful and temperate. I am nervous to see it in late September during the day though!

Thanks for bumping this. I seriously looked and looked.
I was wondering, for those of you before me - at the final arrangements meeting do you get to do the tasting or do you have to set that up separately?
Also, how far before the wedding did you have your final meeting?
They sent me the letter that they would be contacting me soon on June 18th, but I haven't heard from them again.
Thanks!

Well, one thing I have noticed about them is that they don't always get back to you when they say they will. I called within a week of receiving that letter to make the appointment. I'd call now if I were you and make one asap. MaryAnne sat with us and we went over what we would need and she just said 'bring all this stuff here the monday before'. So it's really just an organizational meeting. Also, make sure if you have any questions that you prep them before. I am bad with that sometimes, and I always forget something!

I think you can set up the tasting whenever you want; the last time I spoke to someone there, I believe they said they usually do tastings on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
I too am so excited, and I'm glad that this thread was started!
I think it's cool that as guests arrive, they are greeted with fun fruity drinks (daiquiris, pina coladas, etc.) instead of the standard champagne & strawberries. It kind of gives the place a funky vibe.

Re: Thatched CottageITES!?!
Hey Ladies -- we just got back from my HM and I saw this thread was started! I wish there was a TC thread when I was doing my planning
As some of you know, I am (was) a TC bride, and was just married this past July 25. Let me just say that my reception at the Thatched Cottage was just amazing. You will NOT be sorry you booked TC!!
As everyone says, the day was over so fast and I wish it would have never ended.. So I'm sure I missed little things here and there, but from my perspective everything exceeded my expectations, and in my eyes my reception there was just perfect. They treated my husband and myself like a king and a queen. I honestly didn't eat much that day, but my dinner was delicious .. and I have yet to hear one complaint from any of my guests about ANYTHING.
If anyone has any questions, do not hesitate to ask me
Good luck to all !!

Thank you! I didn't know that actually....We already had the food at a wedding we attended there, but we wanted to taste the duck!

Re: Thatched CottageITES!?!
Anyone doing any of the extras??
I think we are going to add on the Martini Bar and the microbrews (apparently we are a bunch of drunks..LOL).
I'm not sure about the glass piano and the thought of a stuffed suckling pig doesn't give me warm and fuzzy wedding thoughts - but it would be unique!!
What about you girls??
I'm calling thatched this week to set up final meetings.

I don't remember a Martini bar as an add-on choice for me. I would remember that! That sounds awesome.

Re: Thatched CottageITES!?!
we decided against the martini bar but I do remember it as an option ... we just didn't think we had enough 'drinkers' at the wedding to warrant paying the extra $$$
We did add on a combo Mediterranean/Tuscan station at the cocktail hour containing greek and italian items to honor our respective Greek and Italian heritages (when we spoke with Ralph he agreed to combine the two and only charge $5 a head extra, if I'm not mistaken)
I'm glad we did, that station was a big hit
The entire cocktail hour was a smash, everyone loved it..I just wish I could have eaten something!! Can I come to one of your weddings??

Re: Thatched CottageITES!?!
We actually cut things OUT of the basic reception to save some money. Instead of having the cocktail be stations and passed orderves, we are doing ONLY passed. At the wedding we went to last year, there was so much food, people were too full for dinner, and they thought the cocktail hour was the dinner! We are also having a 'dry' wedding, so why have a big cocktail hour without cocktails, especially on a Sunday afternoon!
We might add some desert things though...my Italian family will not be happy without yummy deserts!
