LOL...my Mom and my Aunt watched the ending with me tonight and we were trying to guess during the commercials who he was going to pick. My Mom said Helene from the get-go. My Aunt guessed Brooke, but neither of them have ever watched to show, they were just basing their guesses on the expressions shown during commercial breaks.
I have to say three things - 1) Brooke handled herself with grace during the rejection. That had to be really hard! 2) Could Helene have been anymore UNDERwhelmed with the fact that Aaron chose her...uh, Alex...I'm afraid we don't have a Love Connection here! and 3) I CANNOT believe he actually PROPOSED!!! I am totally for the school of thought that he should tell her he wants to pursue a relationship w/o all the cameras, but don't give her THE RING! Dope! I definitely do not think it's going to work out. JMO.

i think th eway helene responded is exacty a reflection of who she's been so far....she keeps her emotions under lock and key....maybe cause shes cold or maybe because its tv and she's a private person...either way, i think i would have liked brooke better as a friend - she seems more real and sincere, very down to earth....
i can see how he picked helene though....she is mature, classy and composed - a challenge...and now i will get a life b/c i am way too deep into this analysis!!!!

I didn't think Helene was cold more like reserved and she played her cards well - a challenge for Aaron. Guys love a challenge! I had a feeling that he was more into Helene. You could tell that he was just more relaxed with her and when he was with Brooke, Aaron was just stressed out.
I like Gwen a lot too.

i agree with dkga exactly about the way in which helene reacted - it was 'very helene.' i think she just has some weird way with emotions, but i think she felt (feels?) as strongly as brooke - they just have different ways of expressing it.
what i did not like is how aaron never really expressed a total contentment with his decision - how do you PROPOSE and still question whether or not you made the right decision!?
i dunno ... at least i was entertained

Just a question....
On the pizza date with Helene, wasn't she wearing a skirt at the beginning? And at the end it looked like pajama pants and her hair was all messed up when they were kissing (she kissing and talking) goodnight.
ME THINKS HELENE LANDED THE DEAL THE NIGHT BEFORE!!!

I wanted Helene to win from day one. I was jumping up and down that he picked her. :lol: And much as I wasn't too impressed wit Aaron throughout the show, I was VERY impressed that he decided to buy that monster ring all by himself, as opposed to having the network foot the bill. That was pretty genuine.
I think her reaction was a bit aloof, but I think I'd be the same way...I never really show that much emotion and if I was on national TV, I'd be even MORE guarded.
Poor Brook though, to have to go back to reality and real 22 year olds...how does anyone go back to just the average Joe after 7 weeks of 'la-la land?'
(oh, and I hate how she talks and kisses too. Even though I like her...SHUT UP ALREADY!!)

My heart hurt for Brooke I felt so sad for her, but deep down, I had a feeling he may pick Helene, guys love that challenge, and he probably felt Helene was more realistic. I think he thought Brooke 'thought' she was in love, but really just wanted to be. Plus, I think he had his mind made up a long time ago, but wanted to explore all options.
I still think Helene was all cold and reserved, but come on, cameras and all, can you act a little more excited, a little? And I agree, Helene, shut up and kiss already !!!!!!

LOL, about the pizza date...I think something was up with that because when he walked her to the door, it seemed to look like it was LIGHT out...and then they cut to night and him saying goodbye to her at the limo. Hmmmmmm......

I was so happy when he picked Helene - we predicted it would be her from day 1! DH loves her accent.
Did anyone catch the 3 of them on GMA this morning? I was very impressed with Brooke how she came up and congratulated them. But now Helene and Aaron are having a long distance relationship and she's not moving to Springfield.

Up until last night I hated Brooke because she was TOO into Aaron but when I saw her break down I felt terrible. She seemed realy sweet and tried to act with as much dignity as the situation allowed.
Helene didnt freak out but I think that is because she is just getting used to the idea...remember, she has had to deal with this guy hooking up with other girls for the past 6 weeks. I think it would be unnatural for her to get weak in the knees now.
But more importantly: I THINK IT WAS SO SWEET THAT AARON PAID FOR THE RING HIMSELF! What a difference between this guy and the last guy (whotook the free ring and never even gave it to anyone)

When he selected the GORGEOUS ring is when it sealed it for me that it was Helene, I'm pretty sure that was similar to the ring that Helene also liked and said I can see myself wearing this one! The ring was very classic but also modern - I think it suited Helene's style more than Brookes....Maybe Helene told him the ring she wanted in privacy! It was obvious that when he was with Helene he was relaxed, with Brooke he was stressed out and nervous about breaking her young heart. It was sad to see Brook so emotional, but I do think that is one of the reasons why he didnt choose her.....he wanted a woman with an established career -- ok I've analyzed this show way too much.

i also got the feeling that helene knew she would get picked...maybe they had discussed it with each other before....or maybe he dropped her some heavy hints...i felt horrible for brooke though...she was so broken up...

He also outright said he wanted someone independant and self sufficient and Brooke was just getting out of college whereas Helene had a career going already.
I told myself I hated this show form the beginning and I got hooked this year!!!

THANK YOU STACEDZ!! You are the first person to say that and I totally agree! Her voice bothered me so much from the beginning. It just sounded like a constant whine! I couldn't bear it. I didn't like either of them for him. I say he should go back to Gwen!

The strong Jersey accent was definately annoying!! and i also think they somehow discussed beforehand that he would be picking her... They should have ended the show earlier somehow, lets say telling Aaron if he KNOWS who he is going to pick they can make the show end, do something different, instead of KNOWINGLY leading these girls on, its disgusting !
and the fact that they trying out a long distance relationship for a while, doesnt sound so promising from either of them...

I had said Helene from the very beginning… But the two things that annoyed me whas her Laugh..and the flipping of her hair when she would talk…. The Worst Part..I was up for most of it and I fell ASLEEP!!!! When I woke up it was 12:30…..so I jumped on the computer to find out who won...
edited to say : she went into the hot tub (which we did not see) that is why she was in jeans when she left...
