I am trying to save all future bridesmaids from the despair of wearing dyeables! PLEASE girls - do not make your girls dye their shoes to match their dress - I am begging you!!

JMO, but I think the whole matching your dress with your shoes thing is a little outdated, and it is usually a cheap shoe....if you make it a black or a silver or a gold shoe of the bridesmaid's choice, then chances are they will pick out a shoe they love and that they will be able to wear again

Re: The boycotting dyeables thread
I don't know what other peoples reasons are but the last time I had to wear a dyeable shoe, I ended up with a beet red feet for a week! The dye totally comes off on your skin!

Re: The boycotting dyeables thread
I personally don't care for dyeables either. But, I also think that they could be nice if worn correctly (if you have a tea length dress and you wear dyeable strappy sandels, it wouldn't be so bad). I do agree that your BMs will not get much use out of them after the wedding.
I don't agree that they are a cheaper shoe. Sometimes, yes, they are less expensive but I have seen dyeables that were between $80 and $150..maybe I'm cheap but that is a decent amount of money to spend on a shoe that you most likely won't wear agan

Re: The boycotting dyeables thread
I am against them for practical reasons. I don't think it is necessary to make my sister, FSIL and BF shell out another $40-50 for shoes they will never wear again. I know I have heard, well they can dye them black-but will they really use shiny black shoes again?
For the few pictures that the shoes MIGHT show up in, is it really worth it? For those with tea length, I could understand, my BM dresses are long.
I have never in my life noticed BM shoes, nor have I ever heard anyone remark on them at a wedding, or the brides shoes either, unless they were cute sneakers or something unusual.
But to each his own, JMO!!!

Re: The boycotting dyeables thread
Thankfully my girls all got to pick their own black dresses, so they can pick their own black shoo too, LOL
I on the other hand, needed to get a dyeable, but after MUCH searching, I found a gorgeous shoe that I love, a bit pricey but worth it. My gown is a FUNKY color, that I just couldn't match up, I TRIED. So sometimes the dyeable is just necessary!

Re: The boycotting dyeables thread
I told all of my girls to just get a silver strappy sandal (the dresses are deep red).
I still have 2 pairs of dyed shoes that I have not worn since. Funny thing is one pair actually matches the dresses the girls are getting!!

Re: The boycotting dyeables thread
I told my girls that I am comfortable with silver, black or a dyeable and all four of them chose dyables. To each their own I guess.

My girls are wearing light blue & I'm telling them a silver sandel would be fine.

Amen! My girls will get to pick their own silver strappy shoe to go with their silvery-blue tea length dresses.

Re: The boycotting dyeables thread
My girl's dresses are going to be lilac and I just can't see them in lilac shoes, just looks funny in my head. I'm going to have them get silver strappy shoes instead, I think that'll look much better and they'll get more use out of them afterwards!!

Re: The boycotting dyeables thread
I agree to a certain extent. If your girls get shoes that have a more up to date heel and style, and if they can be dyed again to black or silver, then I would get them. But the last pair I bought were a champagne color in an old lady style that I couldn't have dyed even if I wanted to wear again. They were $80 plus tax. What a fareekin waste! I want my girls to find shoes w/ embellishments to compliment their dresses if they can. Dyables will be a last resort for us!

I agree...gold & silver are both great alternatives. (depending on the color of the dress)
