the Catholic Church...

Original post by the future mrs m

My bf and I are both Catholic but do not attend a particular church. I was thinking about starting to attend St. Josephs or St. Ann's in Garden City. Anyone belong there? or getting married there?

If I begin attending now and want to ge married at a particular church is the 'donation' less as a member of the congregation?

Prinses,
Thank you for your response. I'm just going to go ahead and go to mass like that didn't happen. i can't write off an entire parish because of one person. My mom and i will be going this coming Sunday. :)

That's the spirit. I hope you like it there... and I hope that woman in the rectory succeeds in having her head extricated from her behind.

This sounds like a rectory issue. A lot of the times, the people that work in the rectory are old and very set in their ways and very religious so sometimes are difficult to deal with. You are a young couple who is interested in joining the church--they should not be discouraging you. As a matter of fact, most priests love that because they want the influx of younger people.

I would talk to a priest. Usually one priests handles wedding stuff, so you should talk to him about your options and open dates--as long as you are either a member or baptized, they are usually accomodating.

St. Thomas in West Hempstead is beautiful too though--we almost got married there since that is where FH got baptized and lives 5 minutes away.
