My FMI has been telling me about the DeSeversky Center. I already took a look at the website, but I am wondering about it. I would like information on it . I have not read any recent (past year) reviews about the place on this site. Can anyone provide me with any information you have: I really appreciate it
PS 12/01/2007 I went to the Center and took photos. The place is absolutely beautiful!!!! We fell in love with it : )
It looks pretty!!! Definitely worth a look in person! Good luck!

Re: Help!!! The DeSeversky Center
There was an '07 bride who had her wedding there and she did a review. It looked beautiful. Her screen name is Prinses777 I think.

It's supposed to be incredible, but can also be expensive. Definitely worth an inquiry though! GL!

Thanks!!! Do you happen to know how it compares to the Woodlands I went to see it and loved the Woodlands, but they are also a little $$$. I have a small amount of guest, so I am not looking to have a huge place or spend a lot of money.

Re: Help!!! The DeSeversky Center
I am a deserversky bride!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am getting married there in april 2008. let me tell you i saw other halls and when i walked in the mansion tears began running down my face! my fh looked at me and said, 'baby, this is it!' it is pricey I am paying about $160 pp (tax & gratuity included) for a saturday night in april (I got an amazing deal b/c I booked within 6 months of the date.) they usually start at 150pp. plus you have to pay a small site fee- i think 3,000.
We had our food tasting and it honestly was the best we had (5 diff halls). fm me if you want more info. YOU have to bring your own cake- which was good for us b/c we want to use cake man raven for red velvet cake.
I am sooooooooooo happy that we are having our reception there--we had to only guarentee 90 ppl. :)
The mansion is breath taking and i am SOoooo picky. good luck.. fm me !

Re: Help!!! The DeSeversky Center
I'm not a de seversky bride, but i was a guest at a wedding/reception there 3 weeks ago. the food was AMAZING - best wedding food i've had. the atmosphere was very cool too - like a big house party instead of a formal catering hall. i had a great time.
you ask why it's not more popular with LIW brides, and you seem concerned, as if this means it's no good. Listen, just because it's not Jericho Terrace or Chateau La Mer doesn't mean it's not worth considering. It doesn't have an LIW wedding (or two!) every weekend because it's both pricey and small. $160 pp plus a $3000 site fee is on the high side, and a lot of the girls having expensive weddings are also inviting a lot of people, and need a bigger space.
It sounds like you want something 'different' anyway, and coming from someone who's been to a wedding at de seversky, i think it's a nice choice.

I am glad to know the food is great!!! That is my main concern about the place. I went to the Center and I fell in love with it,(check out the photos I posted in 'my albums'.)..... but they don't have a food tasting until January 08 and we can't wait until then : ( The Center's ballroom can seat up to 130 pp comfortably. They have huge tables that seat up to 12 people at a time which does not make the place look too crowded with too many tables....plus, it saves money on centerpieces : ) My original list was 50pp about two months ago and since then it has escalated I figure the fact that we have a place that doesn't allow for a lot of people will limit my FMI from the amount of people we can invite As far as the money, my FH is an alumni from NYIT and gets a discount. The site fee is negotiable. I have been to a few CH and found out the price to be pretty comparable to the Center once my FH gets the discount. I am happy for that fact I really appreciate your reply and comments
Have a great one!!

Re: Help!!! The DeSeversky Center
my friend got married there last summer and it was a beautiful cocktail party. not formal seating.. sooo much fun. the food overflowing at the cocktail hour was amazing, and it had a very homey feel to it. ask the sales person over there who does their catering now, because last year it was open to bring in whatever caterer you wanted to. Dont know if they have given anyone an exclusive bid.

Yes that is what we are having. We are not having a formal cocktail hour. We are getting two rooms for the food to be at and people are allowed to sit outside or wherevever they want. Tables will be set outside...which is absolutely beautiful ....and tables will be set inside as well.
As far as the caterer...they have their own chef who cooks the food. He has been there for a long time
Thanks for the comments
