The Dress is making me a crazy bride

Ok girls. Get ready for my crazy.

So as you may know from past posts I have some major issues with my weight/ and how I feel about my weight...
I found my dress in march totally felll in love with it and we ordered it because I didn’t want to risk the dress being discontinued. I really wanted to wait a few months so I could loose some weight and order a smaller size but I had no choice to order the dress then at the size that I fit into (the 12). At David’s Bridal if you get the dress and its too big on you and you fit into a smaller size they send the dress back and get you the smaller one. When I ordered the dress they told me it would arrive in October, plenty of time to loose weight! Wellll the dress is in. I have an appointment to go pick it up in 2 weeks. Ever since I found out the dress was in I have felt sick about trying to loose enough weight to fit into the 10. Now, I have lost about 15 pounds since I ordered the dress... But my body is weird shaped and I hold most of my weight in my middle so I’m scared that the dress wont really fit that differently and I wont be able to send it back for the 10. I’m not getting the dress altered at Davids, so once I take it that’s it, its my dress and theirs no getting another size.

I know this is so stupid. Its just a number. But I want the number to be smaller. And I’m so stuck on that. Sooo this is what I’m thinking.... How crazy would it be for me to make an appointment at Davids under a different name and try on the 10. Just to see how far off I am from fitting into it. ... How crazy is that? I just feel like having an idea of what I’m working with these next 2 weeks would make me feel a lot better...

I think you should do whatever makes you happy! Go to a different David's Bridal and try on the 10 if it make you feel more calm! Also, try it on with Spanx on and then maybe by the wedding, you won't need them!!

Also, you have to keep in mind that bridal runs very small! Being a 12 in bridal is like being an 8 in other clothes. I ordered my dress from David's and needed the 12, too.

You could also get the 12 and have it taken in. That way, if you need a little tummy room, but are smaller everywhere else, you could do that!

It is normal to feel stressed about your weight and numbers, but just remember...you will look beautiful no matter what number is on that dress!

THIS it's probably a little crazy but to be honest I would consider doing it if i were in your position. or if you dont want to go through the trouble of going to another DB, can you get a hold of their size chart?

Thank you girls. So i have an appointment at 2 today. Same Davids location (only one in the city, also its one of the vera wang dresses and they are the only one close to me that carries her dresses) I used my friends name from work for the appointment. haha omg i feel so crazy! I just had this plan in my head that in October the dress would of course be too big, and now that its in SO early that set me into a panic. I just feel like if i know the 10 is way too tight i need to let this all go.. and if its just a little tight i will work out like a monster the next two weeks and see what i can do.

I almost bought one of the Vera dresses! Which one is it?

I likes one that was tulle, but draped around the bodice with tulle straps and a drop waist.

I do, however, think that you should dress like Carmen Sandiego when you go. You, know...like a disguise.

hahahaha i need to find a trench coat fast! I figure so many people go into that store theirs no way they would recognize me... right? haha well see!

All of her dresses are so pretty! AND affordable! I always wanted a Vera Wang, i love her dresses... so this line was like a dream come true.

Do not worry about what the size says. You look beautiful in your dress now!

Cut the tag out so you do not see the number. If you loose weight you do not have to worry... the seamstress can take the 12 and make it smaller to fit you. When you really have to worry is when there is a lot of beadwork whcih I do not remember the dress having.

First congrats on losing 15 lbs! thats awesome!!!!!

Second, I know this is easier said than done but don't worry about the size! I was really upset at first about my dress size, but its just a number and bridal doesn't run true to size. After alterations it will prob be a completely different size anyway! You don't want to have to worry about fitting into your dress! thats an un-needed stress!

Congrats on the weight loss. Your not crazy at all. I am sure we are all going crazy about the size of our dress and how we are going to look on the big day. I like Mara's idea of cutting the tag out and just forget about it.

Ok I'm back! I went and used my friends name.

They didn't have my dress in the 10, only they 12. So i tried on one of the other vera dress's in a 10 and it FIT! woooo. I also put on my dress in the 12... it seemed big on me and the girl said she thinks i could fit into the 10. So PHEW!

I do realize how dumb I'm being and its only a number. Like Mara said i could just cut out the tag. I guess i just wanted to know that all this hard work I'm doing to loose weight is paying off you know?

Anyway I'm glad I did this because now the next two weeks I can relax about this.

Congrats on losing the weight!! And I think you are not alone in your concern about sizes and numbers, and the crazy thing about bridal is that it runs really small. I normally wear a 10, but in all my BM dresses I had to order a 14, which ****** because I know I'm not a 14, but thats just the way bridal runs. I know seeing that number can be hard, but it really isn't your true size and I think cutting it out is a great idea. Because once alterations are done, you dress will be altered to fit your body and it really won't be a standard size anymore, it will be your size! HTH!

take a breather...i can relate to wanting the smaller size!! I shopped in europe for my dress bc my father lives there and I wanted him to be a part of this for me. I spent about an hour (NO JOKE) trying to convert the Euro Sizes into US sizes to see what my fat tush squeezed into LMAO!!

Don't stress though bc that will prevent you from loosing....best case, you take it home and drop a few more LBs before and HAVE to go to a seamstress to take it in...these ladies have delt with this stuff before and if you go to a good one they will be able to work with the dress and making it smaller.

See what happens when you go in for your fitting. I was just at a David's Bridal last weekend with my FSIL and her wedding is at the end of Aug. They said her dress was too big and they are re-ordering her a size smaller and it should be in at the end of July for her to try on and get altered. Maybe they can do something like that for you!

yay! Glad you feel better and are able to order the smaller size. Even if you had to keep the 12, that's a number I am envious of.... no lie!
