please explain it to me if you got it...and if you didnt, but still bought a dress, explain your thoughts.
ive tried on a few dresses...really not going in to 'BUY' but i totally have an open mind. some i like. some i like alot. but i have never had that overwhelming sense of emotion. am i missing a bride gene maybe? or is it just that i havent found the one yet?
lol.
i have had fun trying on dresses though and i liked that they looked nice! so that made me happy. but i havent been ready to put down my CC on anything yet.

Re: the dress is 'the one' feeling
its kind of funny, the first time i tried on my dress i got excited, like i never wanted to take it off. BUT the second time i had it one i cried a little. i think it was b/c i was standing on that pedestal thing, with the veil on, shoes and all of a sudden everyone in the store was staring at me, all these girls were like 'omg your so beautiful' and it just hit me! i ordered it that day
however, the place i went to the first time, told me, its not like what you see in the movies, you know its the dress when you just light up. and you have to feel comfortable in it bc remember you are wearing it for a long time that day.

i didn't get the overwhelming sense of emotion and didn't cry
i just got really happy and excited and didn't want to take the dress off and i could tell by the looks on my mom and sisters faces that it was the one

Re: the dress is 'the one' feeling
I didn't get the feeling like THIS IS THE ONE right away. I had the dress on for a while and LOVED the way it fit and all the detailing. I tried on a few different ones after and then went back to the same one (all in the same day). When we started putting on the veil and then the blusher came, that's when I got an overwhelming sense of WHOA and began to tear.
There are soo many beautiful dresses out there. i knew I could try on many more dresses and find another one if I wanted to, but at that time everything pointed to buying the dress and making it the one.

Re: the dress is 'the one' feeling
I totally agree with you. It took me a long time to find a dress that I thought was perfect. I have to say though...my wedding dress is not the type of dress I have always envisioned. I saw myself in something different. Absolutely love it regardless. No tears though. Is that a sign? LOL
I had the same situation with selecting a reception hall too. It took me a long time to find the one that would put a tear in my eye.

Re: the dress is 'the one' feeling
I tried on about 10 dresses on day...i liked a few, but i was like, ehh idk if i want to commit to this one...
i was tired of trying on dresses for the day & then my mom was like, well here try on this one..
i put it on & i was like, wow i have to have it...i was just soo happy...
i walked out of the dressing room & saw my moms face & could tell she loved it.... then like 4 bridal consultants walked past and were like, wow, that looks amazing..
i put on the veil and jewelry & was like yessss
lol
maybe you just didnt find the one yet

Re: the dress is 'the one' feeling
i was wondering the same thing about myself, whether i am missing that 'bride gene' or something because every dress i tried on i liked but there was no overwhelming sense of emotion.
the sales attendants kept telling me to look at myself first before i came out of the dressing room because i was judging how i liked the dress by my family's reactions.
however, if it wasnt for their reactions, i wouldnt have gotten the dress i got. i tried it on and the first thing i said was 'this top is kinda weird- i have to get used to it'. and we all hemmed and hawed and after about 20 minutes i decided i loved it. i am in love with it!!!!!!!!! i cant wait to put it on again!!!!!!!!
good luck and dont worry about having that 'moment'. the only advice that id say is whatever you decide you like, just sleep on it and get it the next day.

i agree...i found one that I love and can totally picture myself in on my wedding day. my mom cried and i started to tear up....i wouldn't say i got this overwhelming 'feeling'...you could try on a 1000 dresses and not get that...i think it just comes down to finding one that you love and can envision yourself in on your big day...

i tried on some and was like eh they are ok. then i tried on a few where i was like ooh i like these..they are pretty. THEN i tried on my dress and before it was even fully on i couldnt stop smiling, i walked out and was smiling...my mom and MOH were talking and i couldnt stop smiling. i re-tried on the few i liked and then i tried mine on again and once again i just couldnt get that ear to ear smile off my face and that was my decision maker

Re: the dress is 'the one' feeling
I looked through so many Magazines, but I knew I wanted a big poofy style gown to look like a princess. I has Disney's Belle in mind cause she is my fav!. Then I came across Maggie Sottero - Mona Lisa Royale and there are so many similarities It felt like the 'One'. When I finally tried on the sample... It felt more like a dream.. Nothing else I tried gave me the gut feeling. And my mom cried so that helped too!!
If you feel as if its ok...then keep looking. You'll have that vision going down the aisle when its the right one.

Re: the dress is 'the one' feeling
I didn't get overwhelmed with emotion or cry but I felt really good in my dress. It had everything I wanted because it 's a lace mermaid with a sweetheart neckline. Most of all, it made me feel elegant and like a woman. Every other dress I tried on didn't have this affect. With the dress I got, I feel like I am the best bride that I can be in it, lol.

Re: the dress is 'the one' feeling
Ummm kinda....
I originally fell in love with a Pnina Tornai. I tried it on with a veil and a gorgeous headpiece and at that moment I was like OMG I'm getting married and I love this dress.... Unfortunately my mom hated the dress..... which wouldnt be such a big deal b/c shes not crazy about the one I ultimately bought... but she actually despised the Pnina one... I don't know why! I love it soo much. So with the other dresses I tired on it was weird... I liked them... they were all really beautiful dresses but I didn't feel as special as I should in them. And on the other hand I tried on some dresses that I couldn't wait to get out of... LOL! All beautiful but I knew it wasn't what I wanted. So when I finally went to see my 2nd choice dress nothing compared to it (well except the Pnina LOL!) My mom was OK with this dress... it was killing me that she did love what I picked but its my wedding not hers really. So its not that I got the 'its the one' feeling... I just felt the best in the dress I picked. It was really different(at the time) and thats what I was looking for.

Re: the dress is 'the one' feeling
i got it!! 2nd dress i tried on...the reason i knew it was the one was because I tried on maybe 30-50 other dresses afterwards and always compared it to 'my dress' and all day i called it 'my dress'
goodluck!!

Re: the dress is 'the one' feeling
Honestly not to sound all cheesy.. but yes I got the feeling..... I actually got it when it was still on the hanger I hadn't even tried it on yet. When I had it on I felt like OMG I will never find something to top this one. I did what everyone said though and tried on a few more and yes they were prety but it just didn't compare.... If I had gone with something different I would have been dreaming about the one I got on my weddig day. How sad that would be.
This might not be much help, but I would keep looking.
Oh and btw I didn't cry in it... I GLOWED in it.... Thats how I knew it was 'the one'

Re: the dress is 'the one' feeling
i tried on lots of dresses i kept trying the mermaid styles, fitted gowns they did look nice but I never pictured myself walking down the isle with them until i tried the one i picked I started smiling, dancing going down to the floor just to make sure it's comfortable! i also modeled! i walked back and forth and then I stood on the pedestal thingy and i didn't want to get off and kept looking at myself in the mirror !
