the dress is 'the one' feeling

Original post by little j

please explain it to me if you got it...and if you didnt, but still bought a dress, explain your thoughts.

ive tried on a few dresses...really not going in to 'BUY' but i totally have an open mind. some i like. some i like alot. but i have never had that overwhelming sense of emotion. am i missing a bride gene maybe? or is it just that i havent found the one yet?

lol.

i have had fun trying on dresses though and i liked that they looked nice! so that made me happy. but i havent been ready to put down my CC on anything yet.

I definatly got a feeling that I knew the dress was the one! Also, I had a whole crew of people with me: my MOH, mom, grandma, FMIL, and sister. And my grandma told me it was the one...and that was when i knew it was!!

I actually got the feeling twice...with two different dresses- which really threw me off. But the two dresses were extrememly similiar so thats probably why.

my mom went with me to try on a bunch of dresses.. a lot of them looked nice, but they weren't 'the one' .. when i found my dress my mom could see it automatically in my face.. it was the first time i came out of the dressing room with a big smile on my face.. all the other dresses i tried on id say 'its nice..' or 'its pretty' but i wasn't excited about them.. my dress i was.. and i knew.. i was comfortable in it, i felt beautiful and i knew it was the one!

Mine was the second one I tried, out of probably 30 dresses I tried I hated all of them except for 2. The one I got was the second one I tried on that day. I just couldn't stop thinking about it and I loved it...

I can see why - I saw your pics and as soon as I saw the one you picked I went 'wow, she needs to get that dress'.

There is a reason there are thousands of dresses out there, because each person is different and likes things slightly different. I have not been wowed by anything I have tried on so far, but when I start seriously looking again I hope I will be.

I definitely had that feeling that this was 'the one,' but I was not overly emotional at all. However, I'm a dress size 2 and the sample was a 10 or 12 and was full of clips and vices lol so it was hard to get emotional lol but I felt so glamorous and so gorgeous in it and I did know it was 'the one.'

I wanted long sleeves, mermaid, lost of dripping fabric, no beading, and def not cathedral length.

I ended up with strapless, detail through the WHOLE dress, cathedral length, A line.

It's funny how you imagine and it's never how it is...

It was the 4th dress I tried and I just knew (after I was convinced my arms didn't look weird lol) and my FMIL and FSIL said yeah that's it.

They said try more if you want to be sure but I said I know myself, I'll just go back to this...so I bought it then and there!

My FMIL keeps talking about it lol

its kind of funny, the first time i tried on my dress i got excited, like i never wanted to take it off. BUT the second time i had it one i cried a little. i think it was b/c i was standing on that pedestal thing, with the veil on, shoes and all of a sudden everyone in the store was staring at me, all these girls were like 'omg your so beautiful' and it just hit me! i ordered it that day

however, the place i went to the first time, told me, its not like what you see in the movies, you know its the dress when you just light up. and you have to feel comfortable in it bc remember you are wearing it for a long time that day.

ITA

but then again i got the feeling in one dress and then 2 weeks later in the demetrios dress and im stillll debating lol... but the demetrios dress i feel georgous in like i was on top of the world and all i kept picturing was patken taking beautiful pix of me in it lol.....

Re: the dress is 'the one' feeling

Back in November i went to try on dresses. One of them that I tried on, I looked in the mirror and say Yes this is the one! But then when I got home i saw the pic of me in it. I thought, no its not the one. I dont know if its the mirror or what, but I had a different feeling when I saw the pic of me in it. I think I am going to have a problem finding 'the one'

Wow.. look at all you ladies who have your dresses already!

I'm with you though.. but i don't think.. i KNOW i'm missing that gene.
When i went to the pronovios bridal runway show sat they had freaking beautiful dresses!!
And i saw a few i def wanna try on but i dunno.. i'm not looking foward to it at all!

I HATE trying on clothes and have wasted so much $ in the past cuz i buy something before trying it on and then can't return in (can we say Forever 21! lol)

Even when making an appt to try dresses on in like 4 months when the woman was asking me when was good i'm like. 'whenever' she asked me more specifically and again said 'whenever'. Part of it was cuz i don't know what i'm doing tomorrow nevermind 4 months from now. If there's an appt i'll be there. She then asked me. 'whats wrong.. aren't you excited to try dresses on.' I wanted to say, 'psh.. no, not really lol' I didn't of course cuz my mom would have hit me over the head lol.

Maybe it's cuz i do have 18 months till my wedding and just can't get into it.
Def missing the gene
