I don't know why, but the whole limo thing floors me. I really think it is so expensive.
Can someone explain the 3 hr thing? Everyone knows you need the limo(s) for the entire day. Why do they base it on 3 hrs?

Re: The limo thing....
I haven't looked into it yet, but I know my friend said limos were her highest expense after the hall.
I was shocked by that. Can they really be more expensive than photography?

If your limo is more expensive than photography there are issues........

Re: The limo thing....
How far is the church/temple from the reception? I think they base the 3 hours on the time you need them at your house...to get you to the ceremony and then to the hall.
We are not doing limos at all. Our ceremony is at the hall...and I didn't see the need to have a limo pick me up and take me to the hall (which is 10 minutes from my parents house where I will be getting ready). I will be arriving at the hall about 1 hour before ceremony...so nobody will see me arrive and get out of my dad's car

I dont know who you got your quotes from but mine was no where near my photographer cost. Check out Eddie from Serenity his prices were great, they were the cheapest I found. The three hour thing was from when girls were getting married at the church, The limo had to pick them up take them to the church then to the reception.

Defintely look some more. I still think the prices are a bit nuts for 3 hours but having that be the second biggest expense to your hall in plain old insane...........don't get more cars than you need and only put people in the limo who NEED to be in it. Good Luck.

Re: The limo thing....
To clarify, my friend had 2 limos for her wedding & we had them from before the 2 30 ceremony untill the 6:30 pm reception. Also, this was in CT 3 years ago, so I don't know if photography prices are lower there or limo prices are higher.
What do you mean about the 3 hour thing? Is that a minium? How long do you need the limo for?

I am sure the prices have gone up, people hear the word wedding and their prices go up Yes 3 hour is the minimum, and anything extra you have to pay...........
eta - how long u need it depends on the person.....

Re: The limo thing....
you really don't need the limos for the entire day. they took us from home, to the church, to the picture site and to the reception. 4 hours in total for the larger limo, and 3 hours for the rolls royce.
So I dont mean to sound so dumb but do the limos work like this:
the bridal party is at my mom's and we all take the limo to the church and the guys are in the other limo to the church? Then me and hubby go alone from the church to the hall, and the bridal party go in the other limo to the hall?
I am such a rookie!!!

I'll proabbly need it for more than 3 hours b/c there are 4 hours bewteen the chrcuch & reception, but we may be changing the ceremony time.

There in 'no way' of doing it, It all depends on you. I have both my limos with me, FH will be 10 blocks from our church and I will be 20 minutes away. I will be having his BM take him to the church, then we take the rolls from the church to the hall.........

I that's what's called 'defining the antecedant of your pronoun' an English teacher I had used to yell at us when we didn't make it clear. See what can happen? anyway, sorry to get so off topic.

Re: The limo thing....
the 3 hour thing really bugs me, since we have quite a large gap between church/reception and need the limo with us the entire time to go for pictures in between, etc. I estimate that from the time the limo picks me and BMs up at the hotel to when we're all dropped off at the reception, we'll have had the limos at least 5.5 hours.
We were already told that anything over the 3 hours was EXTRA so that really ups the price, even for your lLincolns!
So now we are going 'bare bones' for the limos, meaning nothing fancy (no escalades or rolls..) Not that I wouldn't want that - I do and wish we had more $$ - but other things were a little more important to us, and we have to cut costs somewhere, and this is where we decided to do it

Re: The limo thing....
limo $$$ are out of control, and time and time again we all hear 'horror stories' - they didn't show up, had the wrong car, driver was an a$$...could go on and on...
we were thinking of using town cars instead of limos, however a quick quote check yielded as well. as of now we are not having limos, however we will need to come up with a transportation solution for us and our parents...
