The Loan Post

Hey girls...
I didnt realize how many of you were in the same 'i have way tooo many loans to even think about planning a wedding boat'
Since i received so many FM i figured it was just easier to post it on the boards. so here it goes.

this is the website with the general information
http://studentaid.ed.gov/PORTALSWebApp/students/english/cancelstaff.jsp?tab=repaying

search the directory to see if your school (or any school your interested in working at) is on the list
https://www.tcli.ed.gov/CBSWebApp/tcli/TCLIPubSchoolSearch.jsp

you have to teach 5 years... but it was worth it..
after you teach 5 years (as long as 1 year was in a low income school on the list) you can apply for forgiveness.

when i started 5 years seems liked forever. but it was def worth it.... i couldnt wait to mail in the application.. i was shocked when they approved it! any little bit helps!
i may have the paper framed

good luck and any other questions just let me know. i do not mind helping at all. i wish everyone could have thier loans disappear!

Re: The Loan Post

I definitely will tell other people.

In doing more research, it seems that with 7 years of teaching, I would still qualify for a possible $5,000 forgiveness. Hell, I'll take it--I owe about $32G still, and every little bit counts!!!

Re: The Loan Post

I have worked in 2 low income schools in the last 8 years but I don't qualify because I took my loan out the year before this law went into effect!!!!
