Does anyone have any info on the Metropolitan? Specifically, I am trying to get an idea of the price ranges for a Friday or Saturday night in March or August. Also, how is the cocktail hour room? I would really like a place that has enough seats for everyone during cocktail hour - I will likely have around 170 people. Thank you!

Re: The Metropolitan in Glen Cove
The Metropolitan is a very nice place. I looked at it for my wedding, I am having 175 and felt it would be very tight. When I saw the room it was set for 180 and the tables seemed to be right on top of eachother. Also, there really isn't an outdoor area which was important to me, but I did love the upstairs area. It is unique, I think it would be beautiful for a smaller wedding. Good luck

I have never been there but from pictures I've seen it looks sooooo cool!! It's really a different place to have a wedding. A friend of my cousin's got married there over the summer and it looked beautiful!! Not sure how many the room fits, sorry!

A friend of mine was married there. The place is very cool, very different for Long Island.
I'm not sure how many the room fits exactly, but my friend had about 160 people and the tables were split between upstairs and down. It may have been her choice to do so based on her numbers, but I think if you go over a certain number they have to split the tables up. If you don't mind having some guests sit upstairs, it's a nice place to have a wedding. Food is great too.

I know! Don't quote me 100% -but...I was just there, and will prob. book but still looking...it is $75 off season $85 on + 20% gratuity. i think it's for both sat. or sunday wedding. $450 site fee for ceremony the cocktail hour can be either in the room that a ceremony would be in or above on the balcony... seating for that many during cocktail hour sounds tight but you should always have less seats than people during the cocktail hour so people mingle the food is amazing and it included top shelf open bar i have been to a few weddings there and the food is consistently great ! Good Luck!

Thank you all for the input! FH and I love the look of the place and have heard great things, we are just concerned about the number of people. I think we are going there next weekend to check it out for ourselves. Any one else have info? Thanks again girls!

Re: The Metropolitan in Glen Cove
My cousin got married there and I was in the wedding party. Myself and the rest of my family did not enjoy the food or the cramped seating. Plus, some people have to sit in the balcony. Why would you want to seperate guests like that? I'm not a fan of the overall set up of the place. JMO.

I also looked at the Metropolitan. We were quoted $95pp plus tax and service charge for a Sat. night in June. That was with the basic menu, nothing extra. It would probably be less for the months you mentioned. I think 170 people might be a tight fit for the Metropolitan. I personally don't think they'd all have a seat for cocktail hour. The place is beautiful though - very different. I've heard the food is very good.

I love the place... that's why I am getting married there
I don't think there will be enough tables to seat all 170 guests during cocktail, but check with them, they will tell you.
As for the dinner, we are expecting about 195 people. We are planning to put the 'young' people upstairs and open up the bar up there. Honestly, I think most of them would prefer it up there, and for those who don't - too bad for them - when they get married, they can do it their way. I have been to many weddings that I thought were extremely cheesy and I never complained. I just think that the Metropolitan is different from your average reception hall- and I think some people dont like it cause it's not 'weddingish' - whereas that is why I do like it.
If we end up with 160 people or less, we won't separate them between the two floors.
