The most TMI question I'll ever ask, but here it goes...

Original post by adelz

For bikini/brazilian waxes - regular wax or sugar wax? I'm looking into this to do in the next few days, but haven't done it before, and am scared shi*less of the PAIN lol.

I'm reading about sugar waxing at 'Shobha' in the city.

Anyway...any recos girls???

I love getting brazilians, but yes it does hurt alot, so worth it afterwards though. I actually heard of this new place called European Wax Center in Merrick I believe.

Supposedly they don't use the strips either, they use just wax. I'm going to try them this summer

I live right down the block from there... once i get the courage... lol

Ok, so I talked to my friend today who waxes ... she says that sugar wax is definitely better for sensitive skin. You will still get some mild irritation. She's all the way out in Port Jeff, but I can give you her info if you would like.

How PAINFUL is it really?

And the next question...is it a stupid idea for me to get it a week before the wedding, when I've never done it before, and will be on my way to the honeymoon right after??? I'm worried about irritation...

just go somewhere good, you shouldnt be choosing the type of wax you need. You could try and do it twice before teh wedding tho

i have been getting waxed for years- i used to go to j sisters in the city- they were good- then i went to frasada in oceanside and saw ella and she is good... but i live in suffolk and had to find someone new. went to sonias waxing plus in northport- and let me tell you - it was the least amount of pain ever! they use thick wax too with no paper. it really wasnt bad at all. going a week before is good. you can shave if any start to grow in and it will come off smooth and still look like it was waxed. you should keep up with it monthly bc after a while it really doesnt hurt. i used vanessa at sonias waxing plus. good luck! you will love it!
