Re: The Official 2007 French Polynesia Thread

Pricing! please! dont remind me!

my hm for 3 nights in tahiti, 4 nights in bora bora and 3 nights in le tahaa is costing my fi $11,000!!!

we are not by any means rich and i would never imagine that we would ever go on a trip that expensive!! but i am so excited and happy to be going on this trip of a lifetime!!

however, when i was researching tahiti, i found some great quotes!!

for 8 night stay 1 night tahiti, 4 nights moorea, 3 nights bora bora, i was quoted from various companies for various packages ( changing hotels) between $6-$8,000.

here are the companies that gave me quotes:
claudia from Pacific for less
her email is [email protected]

and i found that Omar Maxwell gave me the best rates his email is [email protected]

We leave February 12th. We were originally going direct but they changed the flights since the plane was not booked. So now we have a stop in Los Angeles. We really dont care and FH is thrilled since hes a smoker! I'll give you a detailed review when I get back.

Is anyone else affected by the canceled direct flights to Tahiti?

We were originally hesitant about going to FP because FH has such a tight schedule but then decided to just go for it since it would be a painless 12 hour direct flight.

Re: The Official 2007 French Polynesia Thread

hmm, i dont think we were affected. i looked online and the travel agent said we are fine.

is there any way you can switch the flight date?
worse comes to worse, one stopover shouldnt be that bad... right?

We were affected by the cancellation too. We are now leaving on the Wednesday direct flight and returning the following Sunday on the direct flight. Is it possible to change your dates?

Re: The Official 2007 French Polynesia Thread

When I booked, we booked direct flights. As it got closer, the flights were not filled up so they were cancelled and we were put on the flights that stop in LA. We are leaving and coming home the same days we originally booked, just getting in a little later.
If you book a direct flight and its paid for, then they have to honor it, we did not have our flights paid in full when this happened. At least thats what I was told.

We are going to Tahiti!!! WOOHOO

We are going to be in

Tahiti Intercontinental for 2 days
Bora Bora Intercontinental Thalasso-6 days
Moorea Intercontinental-5 days
CANT WAIT!!!

We were effected by the direct flight but instead of leaving the day after the wedding we will be leaving the 13thand coming home a day later then before. Which is fine with me!!

Re: The Official 2007 French Polynesia Thread

MY FH and I are strongly considering FP for our HM in Dec. I got a quote from Tahiti Travel Mate for 9,858.

It includes:
1 night Sheraton Hotel (Tahiti)
3 nights Le Meridien Bora Bora (Beach Bungalow)
3 nights Intercontinental Resort & Spa Moorea
(Beach Bungalow)
3 nights Le Taha’a Private Island & Spa (Taha’a Overwater Villa)

I know FP is $$$$ but this seems like a lot...and I never even hear much about the LeMeridian in BB..I want to stay at the BB Pearl and the Moorea Pearl. No idea if those are more/less expensive.
I'm thinking about knocking off LeTaha'a and staying longer in BB.

Anyway...question: the agent said Tahitian resorts book almost a year in advance...Has anyone else heard that? We are going next Dec. and she told me that we need to make a decision ASAP.

Re: The Official 2007 French Polynesia Thread

Do you girls mind if an 06er crashes your board? I'm an 06 bride but due to a death in the family (DH's dad died 8 days before our wedding!) we were unable to go on our honeymoon...thank god for trip insurance - if it's not included in any of your packages make sure you get it!!! We literally cancelled the day before our wedding and only lost out on the cost of the insurance which was a couple hundred dollars.

So anyway now we are all rebooked to go on our belated honeymoon...going real soon in less than 2 months! We can't wait - we had a lot of stress the few months leading up to our wedding with DH's dad being so sick. We are in desparate need of this vacation. We only got away for a few days after the wedding up to Vermont. We planned Tahiti so long ago it's been a long time coming...glad to finally be going!

Here is our itinerary - I think I am 2nd person on this board to be going:
We are there for 13 nights from March 2nd to 15th.

1 night Intercontinental Tahiti
4 nights Moorea Pearl - garden bung with pool
5 nights Bora Bora Thalasso
3 nights Le Taha'a beach villa

Agree about not booking excursions before....you don't save money and then you are locked into the date. The concierges at all hotels can set them up for you when you arrive. Only thing I have set up is some dinner reservations - like at Villa Mahana on Bora Bora for the best table (top floor table).

The best Polynesian fire show is supposed to be at the Hotel Bora Bora's Wednesday night BBQ...so if you're there on a Wed you should check this out. That is our first night there and we plan on going to this.

I'll be sure to take lots of pics and write a detailed review when we get back!

Good luck to all of you with the rest of your wedding planning!

PS - I don't even want to tell you what we are spending on this trip. We added on another night when we planned it this second time around. It was easy for us to do so b/c of all the wedding gifts we got. But it's crazy how expensive it is!
