Italian Brides: How big is your guest list? Isn't it rediculous that you have invite people either your Mother or Mother in law knows that you NEVER met?

I'm Italian and FH is Greek soooooooooooo currently our guest list is at 376 I'm still trying to cut it down with not much luck

Thank goodness FH is Irish and his family doesn't talk to one another. Most of the guest list is my parent's guests!

I have around 275 on my list but need to get it down to 225. Its crazy, I get so mad everytime we talk about the guest list You can't invite that cousin and not invite the other cousin and then my parents keep mentioning people out of the woodwork that I have no idea who they are. I don't want to invite people that I have no clue who they are Not to mention being Italian means you have 100 opinions give with everything you do.

and we are inviting people i never met from Italy....complete with translated invites.

We're both 100% italian... currently 300 adults and like 30 kids... most of that list is FH's family that I don't know and neither does he! So his parents are making us invite all these people we don't know, yet not paying for any of their plates..

We have about 254 on the guest list....we've gotten some no's already (thank god! place only holds 240)

Oh yea, my mom was like, 'we have to get some invites printed in Italian, but I'll pay for that' and FH was like 'SHE'S KIDDING, RIGHT??' I had to explain to him that we HAVE to invite a bunch of ppl from Italy and the invites obv need to be in Italian for them. He thinks we're nuts.

Yea, you HAVE To send them a favor if they don't come, but send a gift. I have to ship them back to italy...if ppl send gifts.

my guest list isnt HORRIBLE b/c i yelled at my mom a few times haha we are inviting about 220 & me & FH are both italian so go figure how we got our list down to THAT number haha

yeah its insane......we already have about 300-325 on our list.....and we are trying to cut it down to 250 lol...its insane we have about 20 people in out bridal party alone, not to mention you 'have to invite' every tom, jane and uncle bob on ever side of the family that u havent seen in years, sooo annoyinggg

We have about 260 people on our guest list, and that's us cutting it down. We have 29 people in our bridal party, which people say oh that's ridiculous why do you have so many people? But I was like well if I had to pay to be in these people's weddings, they all have to be in mine!!! Hahaha.
And my grandpa actually goes nuts wanting to invite all these distant relatives and 5th cousins of his. I'm like what, I don't know these people!!!
FH is 100% Irish, and they're actually the side I'm worrying most about. Apparently he has a ton of first cousins in Ireland, and the way they do it in his family - they don't send invites to all of them cause it's just too much. They just announce it to everyone and whoever wants to come, comes. Usually only 2 people ended up coming from Ireland in the past. However, this seems to be the year that they all want to come because they have been to the US in quite a bit. So I have no idea how many of them will be coming - which would then get added to my already 260 people we're inviting. UGH! I feel bad saying this, but I hope they don't come! Haha.

OMG I'm so happy someone made this thread! I need a major vent..FH and I kept thinking we were going to be at 250-300..well this weekend we finally had to sit down and do our list because we need them for invites and we were closer to 350..how is this possible?! I honestly started to cry..i really think we know pretty much everyone we invited!! i'm hoping like 100 people say no..finances are getting out of hand and i'm starting to really stress out.
and yes, plenty of family coming from Italy and all staying at my house!! My parents are off the boat and my moms whole family is still there
