I forgot to mention as well... I am in the skylight room... FI and I origianally wanted the Dome room but fell in love with the Skylight room once we saw it.
Also I saw alot of posts about cakes and although I am no where near needing to chose a cake yet. I saw the ones prepared at JT in the freezer for the weddings the day I was there and they were all GORGEOUS!
yeah the cakes are nice that are included in the basic package but depends on what you want. If you want fondant then that is not included or if you dont want a regular round or square design then it can be a problem too and its not included. So dont want ppl to misunderstand and think that i thought the cakes were ugly and thats why i didnt get it from them, that was NOT the case at all in my situation. Just that dh and i were really set on getting a madhatter cake and didnt want it white either, we wanted it with colors so again this was not something that JT provides.
This is the cake DH and I ended up having on our wedding day and from the beginning we knew we'd get something just like this so thats why we knew all along we would go elsewhere for a cake.![]()

I get your point totally. 'To each is own' I myself know I could not spend $800+ on a cake because that's not a major part of my wedding. I think the cakes JT provide are nice and you do get what you pay for and if you don't like it then pay the extra for the cake you want.
your cake is very nice by the way.

yeah i just wanted to point out that i didnt think they had ugly cakes, from what ive seen they are able to recreate other cakes you bring in pics of, and in the pics and past weddings, i saw real nice cakes. So i hope no past JT brides get the wrong idea that i didnt want to get a cake from them bc i felt they made ugly cakes bc that is not the case at all. I think they do a good job, unfortunately i hadnt seen dortoni's do madhatter cakes or else i wouldve gone through them, but past pics i hadnt seen it and on their site i didnt see it. I didnt want to take a chance so i went elsewhere, otherwise like you said, if you want something different then yes just pay the extra. And i know some girls get upset about paying $600-800 for an upgraded cake, but for what they want, if they went elsewhere it would cost over $1k for the cakes they want so thats not a bad price, fondant cakes are expensive so be happy if you can just pay $600-800 for fondant cake, its a pretty good deal that you get since JT works with Dortoni's. If i had seen dortoni's pics that had a madhatter cake i wouldve been happy to just pay that for an upgraded cake.

I used starlight express which is one of their recommended vendors and LOVED them. Even recently they called us to do a video for their website, unfortunately we couldnt do it the day they are doing it but they still even invited us to a private party they are throwing at FOUR and its all on them, so even after the wedding they still are doing stuff for us in a way lol
but i had a long must play list and was very specific about what i wanted and they did exactly what i wanted

I sat with MRJ and I wasn' t too fond of them only becuase I need music to cater to my ethnic background and they basically told me to find the music and they would play it.
We ended up booking with Ultimate Sound DJ's since they specialize in world music and the owner was able to drop a few haitain artist names without me making any requests.
You can also try Bravura Entertainment.
They are pricey but good as well. If we didn't book USDJ's then we would have booked Bravura.

I am using Starlight Express also for my wedding. I think that def. has to be one of my favorite vendors. I know that they will do a great job and for me music was very important when choosing a DJ. I feel like it sets the tone.

it depends what you get with them. I had added extras such as lighting, plasma's, percussionist, zap photographer and montage. Are you looking to do just DJ/MC or adding extra's to it. I think prices start around $2k not 100% sure, i was given the price after we added all the extra's

Do you know if the Skylight room is going to stay the same?

Re: The official JERICHO TERRACE thread
Both of JT's DJs are performing this week at bridal shows. Thats the only reason I am going to them... MRG (i think thats the name) is performing at Nico at the Gatsby Wed. night at the BLI bridal showcase. Body Rock is performing Tuesday at the Watermill for their showcase... Both events are free

We booked with MRG. We chose Marty as our MC. I just felt like we were on the same page and from the several times Ive contacted them, they were always available and really nice to speak with. I've also heard really great things about Starlight Express so you might want to meet with them too. Good luck!

Ladies, if you go to the showcase, make sure you give a phony number or leave that part blank...otherwise you will be getting phone calls EVERY DAY from the house vendors. I wanted to shoot myself after the first week!!!

i have no clue about that. I know they were re-doing the penthouse but havent heard anything about changes to the skylight room. If they are that was after i got married that they decided to do it.
