THE OFFICIAL 'MY BM STINKS' THREAD..C'mon in!

Original post by radiostar

Although I continously call and e-mail her, she won't respond. I'm really trying not to be a pain, I just want to make sure that the lines of communication are always open. Maybe I should kick her out and save myself a headache.

Thank goodness I haven't had any major drama...the only trouble I expect really is from the one girl who won't like our dress b/c its strapless...but I keep telling her no one's really going to look at her anyway - people are only interested in the bride! Thankfully, my MOH says the same thing!

Good point Nvrbrd!!!!!

Hopefully this thread will give a bride-to-be, some insight as to how to pick your BMs. If I could start all over, I would probably have 1 or 2 BMs. Sad but true.

Re: THE OFFICIAL 'MY BM STINKS' THREAD..C'mon in!

Three of my bridesmaids didn't call me once the whole year I was engaged to ask if I needed anything or how my planning was going. They didn't even call me to tell me they weren't coming to my bachelorette party, didn't help my sister with the shower and could care less with what I was up to.

These girls are my cousins and we grew up like sisters & best friends. I was very upset but I am over it now. Two of them are now engaged and guess who is not available to help them.....

I was conveniently out of town when one of them had their engagement party, the other is getting married overseas and I have already told her I cannot go....(originally, I would have rearranged my whole schedule to be able to go) and I haven't called her sister once to see how her shower planning is going and if they need any help.

I hate to be petty but what goes around comes around.

I went through a lot of crap w/my FSIL over the dress I picked out. She didn't want to wear it because it was sleeveless. She even said she'd drop out of the wedding altogether. My FH blew up, and it got ugly. Long story short, she's wearing it, but not without a lot of fuss. Personally, my philosophy is that bridesmaids should wear what the bride wants do what she wants and not give her a hard time. I've been in 3 other weddings and never said boo about anything to the bride. I don't understand any so called friend who would stress someone out unnecessarily.

I have a sign that I made on the computer that says 'I'm the bride' and if anyone says a word to me as the wedding gets closer I am not even going to say a word, I am just going to let my sign say it all.

Though I walk around the apartment bopping my head singing a little tune I made up 'I'm the bride, la la la, I'm the bride, la la la, you not the bride, he not the bride, I'm the bride la la la'

I usually find the need to remind people that

I had one BM drop out a YEAR after I asked her VIA email. EMAIL! But like my hubbie says weddings have a way of showing you who your true friends are. its a great way to weed out those who do not wish us well in life!

catchI22, I totally agree! Sad but true indeed. Hey at least you guys didn't spend over two grand on your Matron of Honor who's wedding/shower/bachlorette party weekend in Miami you did all by yourself.....& who decides not to show up at all to your wedding and doesn't even bother to call you to apologize!!!! I couldn't believe after everything I did for this witch that she would do that to me but I kinda expected it, as sweet as I was to her at her wedding, she treated me like trash that day so I wasn't too surprised that she pulled the 'no-show' at my wedding. She should have been on that show 'bridezilla'

Hey! I just thought of a great reality show!!! 'Bridesmaids from Hell'!!!! They always say the BRIDES are always moody....um...hello?! It's our stupid Bridesmaids who always cause so much drama & stress so of course some of us are going to be moody!!!

Evelyn: I totally agree. There should be a reality show Bridesmaids from hell. Maybe you can pitch it to Fox, they seem to be doing everything for reality shows.

And they can use us brides for stories for the show.

I agree when our BM's give us problems, it causes us to get nasty and mean and we're not the bad one.

Oh well what goes around comes around because when these girls get married they'll see how it feels

Re the question someone posed above about why people do this to each other - spite, jealousy and pure beeotchiness. I never liked women much until I found a really great group of girls who renewed my faith in friendship (three of them are in my BP). The problem is that most people are self absorbed and selfish. It's all about ME ME ME!

Not be a downer, but those of you with really wonderful friends, count your blessings and love them and call them and tell them how special they are to you. I called my out-of-state and VERY involved MOH the other today just to thank her again for all the work she is doing. She was startled and surprised and later confessed that the out of the blue call had meant a lot to her....

So, how many BMs is too many? And if I have 4 cousins (one of my mom's side - the other on my dad's), is it ok to invite only the one from my mom's side to leave room for my friends? Or should family come first? Is that rude?

Laura, if you have a lot of cousins and you're close to them, you'll either have to have a large bridal party or pick who is the most dear to you, cousins or friends.

None of my cousins are in the bridal party, only siblings, and my friends. I only see my cousins a every few years and don't believe that they 'deserve' that special place.

You know what I think........

That these bad BMs are no worth us talking about, lets just post about other stuff and help eachother fill the void, screw em!

Re: THE OFFICIAL 'MY BM STINKS' THREAD..C'mon in!

Alina,
I agree with you but here is where the problem lies - 2 of the 3 were just married in the past 2 years and i was in both their parties. But I believe that the second cousin asked me b/c the first one did and set precedent. To follow suit, my sister got married 2 months later and asked them in her party just b/c she was in theirs. this could go on and on. One cousin just had a baby so she would be thrilled not to be a BM again (she was 8 1/2 prego for the last one ). But basically, I see them on holidays and that is it. I don't want to offend any of them but I am sooooo much closer to my friends than I am with them. I can't have both friends and family b/c then i would have 10 BMs for a 100 person wedding - no like that. So I have to choose .

Re: THE OFFICIAL 'MY BM STINKS' THREAD..C'mon in!

If you feel that your friends are closer, perhaps the friends can be bridemaids, and other cousins have some other special readings/roles to play?

You can also make it really really easy, only have your sister as a MOH, so that nobody gets jealous.
Then, you are effectly showing a drawn line that only immediate family is in the bridal party...

I dont' see the point of inviting someone to be in your bridal party just b/c they invited you, I think that's actually kind of silly.
