'The One' ?

'The One' ?

I am having a hard time with dresses. How did you know when your dress was 'the one'? I've had three appointments already and I like / LOVE many dresses, but how do I know which is the one? Any advice is appreciated. TIA

I just couldn't stop thinking about it. I was trying to decide between my gown and another....but everytime I reviewed the afternoon of trying on gowns, I kept picturing myself in 'the one.' I also made a pros/cons list (yea, back to junior high..think before you leap crap, lol) for the two gowns, and my 'one' had more pros than the other.

I tried on quite a few dresses and I pretty much liked them all. However, when I put 'The One' on, I couldn't take it off. I wanted to stay in it forever...I think I did for about an hour, LOL.

I tried on like (7) or so dresses and i liked/loved a few of them, but when I tried 'the one' on, I just knew...It was the only one that i 'felt' like a bride in...Good luck and don't worry, you'll find 'your one'...

but......
when i tried on my number one (which happened to be the last dress i tried on that day).....
i wanted to cry, i kept saying 'i think this is it, i think this is it' and my family came to tears, and all the ladies in the store were smiling.

so its just a feeling!

I knew when i found the one!
I saw many other dresses that i liked,
but i knew what i was looking for and altho i loved the other dresses there would be like one piece that it didnt have...

example...i wanted a dress with pickups, but also have beadwork on the skirt...found one dress i loved that had pickup, but did not have any beadwork on the skirt at all! altho they said they can add them for me...but i kept looking and i found the perfect dress that had everything!!

lol my knees started rocking back and forth and i couldnt stop smiling! then i looked over and my mom was crying! thats how i knew!

I loved it, but when I walked out of the dressing room my whole party ****** in their breath and went 'oh my'.

I was glowing and it felt amazing. I looked great in it, I felt great in it and I could imagine myself walking down the aisle.

It was one of thise things that it just felt right, i looked great and I JUST knew.

When I went home after trying it on and leaving the store, I just kept thinking of it and wanting to look at it, unlike the other dresses. I'd fall asleep and have dreams about it And no matter what dress I'd try on, I kept coming back to it. Of course I thought, 'what if there's another one out there?' but I tried on dress after dress and none gave me the same feeling.

I didn't want to take that one off! Seriously, the store closed and they were like....'uh you kind of need to get out of that now.'

I first went through many pics and mags and tore out pics of dresses I loved. I made a list of the details I wanted that I knew worled fo rme and my figure like a sweetheart neckline, had to be white not ivory, had to be A-line, be satin, have crystals etc. Then I tried on many dresses at 2 stores but every dress had something about it I wanted to change. I went to a different store and tried a couple on and I just knew....I really felt like a bride and it had the exact details I wanted. So I think it was a combo of knowing what I wanted and would look good on and perseverance lol...don't worry, it will happen for you too and you will 'know' it is THE dress when you look at yourself in the dress!!!!!! Keep trying those dresses on

Re: 'The One' ?

I fell in love with mine when I was searching online at dresses. I hunted it down and found a bridal salon that carried the designer. I was positive though that it wouldn't look as good on....I got even more discouraged when I got the store and the sample size was teeny tiny that the first time I tried I couldn't get it over my hips. After trying a bunch of dresses on that day and not having the one moment, I tried to get the sample dress on one more time. I got it on and it was all over...I found my dress!

Re: 'The One' ?

I had tried on a few and it was when I stepped into it and it wasnt even zipped yet and my moh gasped and said OMG thats your dress and I was like OMG I think it is! LOL Then as soon as I stepped out my mother started to cry and then they put the veil on me and I looked in the mirror and I started to cry! I just knew! And it was my first time out trying on dresses but I just knew! =)

I think its one of those things you can EXACTLY put into words, you just KNOW... You just put it on and you KNOW!

There was 1 other dress I loved but it just wasnt ME and this one like I said just was perfect FOR me =)))

that was exactly my feeling!!! i just saw myself in it the day of my wedding

eta: the more you focus on 'the feeling' the more you confuse yourself though!!!! try to just take in every dress you try on and see it for what it is and not try too analyze your feelings

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: 'The One' ?

I tried on a few that in my mind were in contention to be 'the one.' When I told this to the saleswoman at Wedding Salon of Manhasset, she told me that that meant that I just hadn't found the one yet. She said I'd 'feel' it. I didn't think I would because I'm definitely an analytical thinker! Well, the very next dress I tried on was 'the one'. I said ,'I LOVE it' right away, and didn't want to try on a single other dress. Another thing was that I could see myself in the dress as one complete unit when I looked in the mirror. With the other dresses, it was like, 'there's my face, now shift eyes, there's the dress' [if that makes sense at all]. You will find the one!

Re: 'The One' ?

I knew it was the one the minute I looked at myself in the mirror. It was the 2nd dress I tried on.... I actually got pressured to try on other dresses from my sister because she thought I was just settling.... then when I kept trying on other dresses, I kept comparing EVERY DRESS to 'the one'

I started to well up as soon as I put it on. Also, a guy walking outside the dress shop stopped to stare. Then he gave me two thumbs up.
