It really suxs b/c this is suppose to be thehappiest time of our lives and a little dent is put into it b/c of the cost of living. My father the other day told FH and I that he really feels bad for us and he does not envy us at all b/c when he was first starting out things were a whole lot easier then (28 years ago).

It suxs that prices are going up, but salaries are remaining the same... 1 plus 1 does not equal 2 in this case!!!!!

gotta love the price of oil! so yes, its the increased cost to produce and distribute food - but it also has a lot to do with CORN - yes the good ol' ear is what is also driving prices. with ethanol production on the rise, corn is becoming more expensive (thats what's used to produce ethanol). so that yummy steak thats a kabillion dollars a pound - thats because the farmer had to buy corn to feed it and that corn was expensive. other produce, well with the demand for corn for ethanol production on the rise. John farmer has to now dedicate more of his land to corn production and cuts back on his green beans, cauliflower etc fields so that he can make more $$ ... less green beans available = higher cost....etc etc etc.. ;)
FH and I one year ago would do an UBER big shopping like once every couple of months and spend like $180 - that was for cleaning supplies, paper towels stocking dry pantry items etc etc....and then weekly we'd spend around 80-100 (120 if we bought something special) now we are consistently spending between 140 and 160 - and special is OUT the door - unless its on sale. :) :)

My mom and I just had this discussion last week, and it got me so upset that she is upset about FH and I and my sister and her husband. She feels the same way, that we are struggling or will be struggling just to maintain ... and that it shouldn't be that way. THIS is why I am moving .. no, grocery prices aren't much cheaper in NH, but housing costs, insurance, restaurant prices, etc are. Sad that I need to move away from my family in order to have a good life!!!!!
