The Riviera

Re: The Riviera

JLP, I can't believe you got them for $59 pp. They told me $80PP for a Sat afternoon in April. They claimed April was their most popular month. But, April seems to be an off month for every other place.

I was planning on looking there too. Does anyone know if there's any way to make sure I don't get that guy? When do the good ones work?

Re: The Riviera

I would just call and ask to make an appointment with Michelle or Vicky.

I believe michelle works only on Mondays and Fridays.

Re: The Riviera

I was married there in August.

Overall, I give them an A-. I had a great time and didn't even look at another hall after the Riviera.

I had an awful experience about 1 month before I was married. I had an appointment to choose the menu, and the guy who was there (Tony, older man) was AWFUL! I left sooo unbelievably angry. I called the next day to yell about it and I spoke to Robert Jay who made everything better. They also threw in a welcome cart, chair covers, upgraded the steak for free, and a chocolate fountain for free because I was so angry.

If you have any other questions, FM me.

My brother got married there. Granted, it was '97, but it was gorgeous. The deck was fabulous for the cocktail hour and the room was really nice.

Re: The Riviera

So it seems like Robert J., Michelle, or Vicky are all good? Does anyone know if the older guy, Tony, is the owner? It seems like they shouldn't let him speak to customers. Maybe I'll try and give them another shot with one of the other reps. It really IS a gorgeous place. My only concern is that it's a nice place if IT DOESN'T RAIN. I do not like their contigency plans if it rains. But if it's nice, you can have ceremony and CH outside on the water which is just gorgeous.

Re: The Riviera

I am a Riviera

FH and I looked at a bunch of vendors and the day we stepped into the Riviera, we finally both agreed on our reception site. I loved the place, so did FH. I remember going out to have lunch afterwards being so excited that we found the perfect location for our wedding.

We have meet with Michelle on a number of occasions and love the staff. I don't know of any of these guys you girls have been speaking of. We also got to go one evening to see the hall set up for a wedding coming in and then stayed to have our tasting.

They have a new and up-graded menu which I hear is delesious. We go next month to pick out our menu and linens. I am looking forward to seeing the large Xmas tree they have set up in the lobby and have both fireplaces buring for some romantic pics prior to the reception.

For anyone second guessing the Riviera, I would give them a second try. Really they are wonderful staff and very affordable.

I would also suggest giving them another try. Victoria is an angel and Michelle was so sweet when I spoke to her.

Re: The Riviera

I just had to bump this thread again because I really love this place and feel like choosing the Riviera was the best decision we have made through this whole wedding thing it is the only thing that did not cause us any stress. For anybody that had a distasteful experience I would give it a 2nd try. Michelle has been so, so good to us we love her and when we went Friday night to do our menu we met Robert Jay and he will keep everything running smooth the night of our wedding he is such a doll.

Hi All -

The Riviera was great - I would recommend it to everyone... we both loved it and our guests are telling us the same.

I'll be posting a review soon!

I had the same experience with a man who showed us around at the Riviera. They also wanted a little over $100 pp for a Sunday in Sept.

Lori, did you get the old man?

Ladies, I just wanted to let you know that I did fall in love with the Riviera. I agree that it is so gorgeous and I know they put on a great wedding becuase I've heard nothing but good things. Just my experience there soured it for me. However, the main reason for not going with them is not the old guy. I didn't want to bank on a beautiful day in April.... and the contigency plans for rain are not the best since the place is small. However, I wish all the Riveria brides the best.

Re: The Riviera

I was supposed to get married there this past July, and when I was planning my wedding I dealt with Vicki. She is such a doll!! She answered any questions I had, she went out of her way to help me find another band (the band I had booked had double booked me and then cancelled when I had a signed contract) and even when I had to cancel my wedding, she was very helpful in trying to get back as much money as I could from what I had paid. I cant recall every single instance in which Vicki went above and beyond what a normal banquet manager does, but let me tell you, she was amazing. I heard about that old guy and that a lot of people didnt like him, but dont let him discourage you, work with Vicki or Michelle they are both great. I would definitly use them if I was having a party or something, hell I would love to use them when I get married in the future, but I think that would be too weird for me to do that.
