the rounds

I have been to lots of weddings and have seen the bride have to walk all around during the reception meal. How can I avoid this without upsetting my family, I am just to shy.

Bunny, thanks!

Re: the rounds

You can make the rounds with your husband together. Also, you can have a little drink to help relax you.

Re: the rounds

You should greet your guests several times at your wedding. One during the receiving line, once during the rounds and once when people say goodbye.

Not to spend a few minutes with everyone is rude in my opinion.

I don't think there is a way around it.

Re: the rounds

I agree. You definately have to make the rounds or you will appear rude.

Re: the rounds

We only had 62 guests, so we spoke to everyone at least 2x, DH and I got split up a lot so our rounds weren't always together. But, since most danced, that was a way to hang out with our guests too.

Re: the rounds

We had 150 people and I spoke to everyone at the cocktail hour (no receiving line) and when leaving...

during the first course, dinner, and dessert we went around to every table and asked if they were having a good time and how the food was (b/c we knew it was awesome), etc..

Re: the rounds

Last September, we went to the wedding of one of FH's family. The bride did not go around to any tables at all! There were about 250 people at the wedding so she really should have. We never got closer than 30 feet from her the whole time. It was very rude, and it left many people talking about how they never even got to say hello to her. She really should have made it her business to come around and greet everyone. We didn't even get to say hello and she commented to her mother afterwards (when she opened the envelopes) that she didn't even realize half of these people were there. Her mother tells the story like its funny, but I am not amused. I think its rude and disgraceful.

Re: the rounds

I think you have to make the rounds to be polite. Have a drink, and 'dance' your way around.
