X17 has uncovered the truth behind Brit's less than energetic performance tonight.
Check it out -- we're all wondering why Britney looked like she was doing a dry run rather than a full-on VMAs gig tonight and X17 has the answer!
A source tells X17 Brit found out about Sarah Silverman's crappy line about Britney's babies just moments before she took the stage to perform 'Gimme More.' Needless to say, Britney was PISSED! ... as any mom would be. Britney was so upset she walked through her performance just to get it over with (despite encouragement from her friends, including Sam who was apparently yelling at Sarah backstage) to skip out on it all together). She held up her end of the bargain and got a major slap in the face from Sarah.
Chin up, Brit -- you'll rock our worlds when you're ready and Sarah's dating Jimmy Kimmel -- how great can her life be ...

I was just going to say that. It is not even worth it for Britney to go down to her level. She should just ignore it because last time it was Paris who was pi**ed at her so its not just her.

If you are a performer, singer, actress , model whatever, you always have to give your best, 100% at all times despite other peoples critisim. Why did she show the whole world that something was bothering her, she could have given her all time best performance to show everyone she has come back with a new album. Now I bet no one will buy it. She could have handled that backstage. I love Sarah S

honestly if this was supposed to be her 'big comeback' and she did find out what sarah silverman was going to say, wouldn't you try 100x's more to do a kick azz job to prove her wrong and make her and her jokes look stupid?? i think that that whole story is a cop out.
i feel bad for britney, she used to be so talented, i do think that she will make a comeback, hey at least the song is good!!
and another thing - MTV isn't stupid, they didn't care if she bombed or rocked it, they did it for ratings, they knew everyone would be tuning in to see if she fell on her face - and everyone did. whoevers idea it was to book her just got a raise i'm sure!

yeah sarah was 100% wrong but that doesnt take away from everything britney has been doing...the kid part was wrong but her actions lead to her image in the media at the moment. And she gets mad that others say things, which she is right to get mad but she also needs to be that protective of her kids when shes with them considering she supposedly calls them mistakes and all the other things ppl are saying she does.

Exactly, wasnt their an sports payer recently who father was sick, or died and he still played. Unfortuneately, if your have a carreer like that- she show must go on. It is sad but true.

she is performer......she is a celebrity.......that is the life that she choose - if she wanted a private life then she shouldn't have tried so hard to become famous!! that is what you give up when you are a celebrity - it's the price that you pay - maybe she should have thought about that before having 2 kids??? i mean what did she expect? TONS of celebrity kids get joked on not just her kids - i'm not saying its right, but it is what it is.....she gets paid to perform - bottom line - that is her JOB......would it be acceptable for us to do a sh*tty job at work because we were upset or in a bad mood? or come to work stoned ? no way - we'd get fired!!! i don't feel sorry for her if thats the truth behind her crappy performance - its her job to perform - and she hasn't had a good perfomance in a long time - why do they keep giving this girl so many chances? i used to love britney as a performer (not a singer b/c we all know the girl can't sing lol) and i would love to see a comeback but i don't think its going to happen for her.......if she can't handle a 4 minute performance how could she handle 2 kids?

i didn't see the beginning so i missed stupid silverman's comment, but just knowing someone was talking shiit about my kids a few minutes before i had to perform would kill it for me too!

yeah her nannies and other sources have said that she yells at them and calls them mistakes...she feeds them fast food at like midnight and there were pics of her taking them out at night very late and they were eating junk food, she gives them soda in a bottle and they eat like crap. She brings men around the house all the time in front of them and she walks around naked while her kids are there and shes with other men, and a ton more stuff
THAT is the reason sarah called them mistakes bc of the accusations that britney always tells her kids that they're mistakes

I honestly was disappointed. However, at the same time felt really bad for her. I really thought Sarah was very tasteless. Like who the F does that. That was so rude and disgusting that she would say that about britneys kids. Like granted if you want to crack a joke about britney fine. But, don't get the kids involved. UGHHHH
Overall: I thought the VMAs ****** last night. They were very sloppy!

No excuse for her performance. People are critizing her way to much. She's got out of a bad relationship, the state wants to take her kids and thinks she is not a good mom.
Her performance was bad... but what did people expect after all she has been through???
I hate the media and bashing and it really doesnt help with those comments about her kids.
I agree.... I give her props for trying to bring her career back into motion but with so much bashing, it really takes alot to block it out and concentrate.

sarah silverman makes fun of EVERYONE! dont' get me wrong, I would never want anyone to make fun of me, or my children - and I'd probably want to kill them - but come on, its Sarah Silverman's job to make fun of people!! Just like its Brit's job to put on a good show.......I think its a sh*tty excuse if you ask me.....the show must go on - thats the business and for whatever the reason is Ms. Spears can't handle it - which is sad - since it should be a piece of cake - she has been doing it her whole life!

That is where MY problem is. I understand that in the world we live in that once you become a celebrity, you lose your right to privacy but I don't agree with it. I don't think it's fair. THink about all the daily mistakes we make. Now imagine being famous and having the whole world watching you pick your nose while you are driving, or tripping and falling with your baby. Katie Holmes just recently fell in Europe with Suri in her arm and NO ONE made a big deal... Britney stumbles and they call her a bad mom. I don't agree with her decisions and choices, but I don think the girl is a little sick and needs some slack... I think Hollywood has a vendetta out for this girl and they won't stop til she cracks again... anyone that shaves their head out of sheer desperation needs help

Poor girl but she brought this whole thing upon herself. She could have given it her all despite everything else going on. She could have made a big comeback but didnt, its disgusting the way she looked.

This is not completely on topic of the thread, but if you are a parent (celebrity or not) you have to be protective of your kids!
If Jane Doe down the street takes her kids out late and all- no one will know, but celebritys have to be even more careful bc one slip up and everyone will know.
Look at other celebrities who keep theor lives on the DL, no one cares about them. Media only cares abuot the Brittneys and Lindsays in rehab and partying all the time. You dont hear much about Rhianna in tabloids b/c she is not out there doing crazy stuff. You heard of J-lo back when she was w/ Diddy an dthe shooting at the bar, but now she is quiet and all u hear is that she may be pregos (nothing negative).
If she did call her own kids mistakes- that s just ridiculous b/c if she feels she shouldnt have had kids, then SHE made the mistake!!

i dont agree with it either......but these people also make tons of money - people like us can't even comprehend how much money they have....they live lavish lifestyles, they probably can have almost anything that they want and most of them LOVE their job - actors, singers, sport players - meantime i'm here sitting at my crappy job, worrying about how i am going to afford a wedding, a mortgage, kids, etc.......i think that there are people who aren't famous that have it a lot harder than Britney Spears and they still manage....
