Re: The Thatched Cottage
We looked there for our December wedding, but were turned off by some of their customer service. I have heard many great reviews on these boards for them though!
Good luck!

It was one of our top choices. Most people seem to like it, but there have been some negative comments about it also.

Re: The Thatched Cottage
We made an appointment there at 8pm on a Wednesday, and they had us waiting 20 min before we eventually walked out, after giving ourselves a tour only to realize it wasn't worth the wait. It was also very low tide that evening so instead of a nice waterview all you saw was mud! I was very annoyed at how unprofessional they were - after asking the receptionist to look into why we were waiting for an appointment we confirmed twice she disappeared for 15 min and we left before she even came back.

Re: The Thatched Cottage
I've never attended a wedding there, but my aunt recently did. She loved the food and the ambiance. However, her car was damaged by the valet service. These things happen and I understand that. The problem is that the management of TC was completely unprofessional and rude when dealing with my aunt regarding the car.

Re: The Thatched Cottage
My cousin got married there this past summer, and I thought it was very nice. There were definitely some things I didn't like, but for the price, I think it is worth it!

They can make you wait, but I think the place is absolutely beautiful. One thing I learned about the water - There is a dam that they use to empty the pond during the week, and then they let the water back in on Thursday. So Monday-Wednesday there is hardly any water. I went and saw it muddy and totally freaked out. Then the owner explained it to me. I still didn't believe him until he showed me a newspaper article about it. Actually that keeps the water clean, so its a good thing, and there will always be water during an affair.

Re: The Thatched Cottage
The emptying of the damn also keeps it from smelling when its low tide! Kills all the algae ... which is good if your cocktail hour is outside during low tide! At least that is what they told me when I booked! makes sense... It is very daunting to look over and see mud though lol. The first two times I went to look at the place it was dark so I didn't see the water, When I went back the last time about to book was when I first saw it and i freaked out.
