The 'Trick' is not to buy too many 'Treats'!
I think I overdid it with the candy. I have 40 goodie-bags done, which are jammed packed w/chocolate & WillyWonka candy. And I still have over 4 lbs left!
We didn't get a lot last year b/c we hadn't officially moved in yet. A lot of people by-passed us thinking no one was living here.
How many 'Trick-or-Treaters' do you guys get?
I'm just debating whether I should make up the other 40 goodie-bags that I have or if I shouldn't waste my time.

Re: The 'Trick' is not to buy too many 'Treats'!
jenny it dependsAll neighborhoods are differnt.
I would of gone through all those 40 bags in less than an hour wherere I used to live
I would probably make more just to be on the safe side.
40 really is not all that much

Re: The 'Trick' is not to buy too many 'Treats'!
I was soooo dissapointed when my neighbor answered my trick-or-treater inquiry by telling me we get almost NONE! They have 6 children (one is an infant) and they have 3 on the other side, but I don't see many others on the street - mostly older folks. It's also a slightly busy road without sidewalks, so I expect the houses behind us tell the kids to stay off our street and in the subdivision

Jodi, Yeah, you're right... 40's not a lot. I'm going to make the rest up. Now that I think about it, I recall one of my neighbors telling me 'Be prepared for a lot of kids' when she came by last year. Now I'm hoping I have enough!

We hardly had any kids come by last year, but I think it's because we were new in the neighborhood. I can see parents of young children not wanting to go to 'stranger's' houses. I'm hoping that since we know more people, we'll have more visitors this year.

Every year is different. Sometimes we get a lot and sometimes hardly any. I made sure I bought things we like in case we have a lot left over.

I always buy too much, just in case. If you have trouble getting rid of the candy, you can send it to me

Re: The 'Trick' is not to buy too many 'Treats'!
I just have a big bowl full and let them pick what they want. (I used to hate getting things i didnt like LOL
) Actually last year, instead of candy, I got erasers, pencils, little party favor type things from party city, I figured a change from CANDY and something the parents wont say 'umm lemme check that'... They picked what they wanted and seemed to love it..This year we were actually invited to go over a cousins house, so I might not be home for all the trick or treaters. Im just going to leave the bowl on the front porch with a little sign...hope that works!
We dont get that many trick or treaters. I'd say we got maybe 20 at the most last year...

Anna, that is such a great idea. Maybe I'll do that next year.

Re: The 'Trick' is not to buy too many 'Treats'!
No! I still have at least 40 goodie-bags left...and I gave 2 to some kids!My neighbor told me again to be prepared for lots of kids, but I don't feel like we got a lot.
At least the kids that did get the goodie-bags were psyched! One kid saw my basket that was full of the bags by the door, grabbed his friend, pointed and said 'Whoa! Look at those! Cool!'
Another girl said 'OOh, I love these!'
My FH thinks I'm insane. I told him I'm already planning for you next year... Full size bars!!!!!
I was going to give the kids glowstick bracelets, but decided against it. Maybe next year!

Re: The 'Trick' is not to buy too many 'Treats'!
We don't get many kids. My block is full of older couples and newleyweds. Two blocks up are kids over 10+. But when they did come over my mom would literally pour the bowl into their bags and stop when she felt like it! The little ones that I did see were sooo happy with those huge grins.
Glad there weren't many kids. Because I am going to attack all those smarties when I get home!
