I finally saw the entire video. Frank and I disagree on this. (the guy died) He feels bad for the guy and thinks the cops were wrong.. I totally disagree, if you see the entire video you see this guy MAJORLY resisting arrest.. it took thre cops to get this guy on the ground and he would NOT put his hands behind his back.. the cops had to beat him with the night sticks.. I knew the guy was on drugs.
What should the cops have done, said 'oh ok you dont want to be arrested, well ok just waalk away'
If your going to commit a crime you have to pay, unfortunatly this guy was so stupid he paid with his life..

I agree I don't think the force was excessive either. The man died from an enlarged heart. He was obese and on drugs, that is what killed him.

Yes he did resist arrest however to continually hit him over the head is como se dice SICK, There are other ways STUN GUN???? NET???? More MEN Invoved?? I don't know I think it is a shame and again does not put the police department in a good light..........

The guy lunged at the cops, and the cops followed procedure completly. The guy died of an enlarged heart (I am sure his weight and the fact that he had cocaine and heroine in his system didn't help). He did not die of anything the cops did to him. There were no internal organs bruised at all from the 'force' the cops used on him.
eta - From the video I saw the cops did not hit the guy in the head at all. What would you do if a 400+ pound guy lunged at you? Forgetting even his weight he was all drugged up?

I totally think the cops were justified in hitting this guy to get him down. I am not an advocate for violence, but I am tired of people always saying that the cops are the ones that are wrong. The guy hit the cop first, his partner tried to get him down...of course the guy was huge and on drugs...it took 4 or 5 of them to finally get him down.
I am glad that there are men and woman out there that are willing to put their lives on the line to keep me safe and if a few 'upstanding' citizens get hurt...too bad!!!!!!! Maybe some of them will learn!
They should have shot him right in the head or just let him loose. If I was a cop, I wouldnt put myself in harms way for anybody. People are going ot ***** no matter what.

I agree. The guy was 400+ pounds on drugs and DEF. went after the cops..... When u are told to stop and put ure hands behind ure back U SHOULD DEFINETLY DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!! not lunge at the cops more then once. The autopsy shows no signs of damage due to the nightsticks. They see his heart condition and drugs. Moral of the story.. Dont do things to get ureself arrested!

I beleive the cops were totally justified. This huge man was coming at them high on pcp or whatever the drug combination was and they had no choice. He was never hit in the head and passed away because of the drugs and the enlarged heart.
I really feel bad that the police can not do anything anymore without being thrown to the wolves. If i was a cop I wouldn't even bother anymore.
I was actually on a jury for a DUI and resisting arrest case...and there was video...its amazing what people do to get out of arrest (we found out later that the defendant had 2 prior and 2 more trials coming up - so being caught again would land him in State prison...not county)
the defendant even had the balls to yell out in the trial being all aggressive...getting out of his seat...
I was pulled over once (TOTALLY SOBER) and was asked to take a breath test....I complied...i had nothing to hide...I was polite...did what the officer told me...and he thanked me and sent me on my way...
if you weren't doing something wrong...there is no need to run

Ya and they have a mug shot of him in 1998. So hello hes been in trouble with the law before.

I believe the cops were completly justified in beating the man to comply. He was REALLY resisting arrest and they were doing what they taught. I also dont believe they were hitting him on the head. I hope the cops get off their suspension and get back to their duties.

And may I ask, what would more officers be able to do if they arrived on the scene? Force would still most likely be needed and besides, it's not like the PD has extra men waiting on the sideline.

it was a homicide only because he was involved with other people when he died (the struggle).
Force would still most likely be needed and besides, it's not like the PD has extra men waiting on the sideline.
