I finally saw the entire video. Frank and I disagree on this. (the guy died) He feels bad for the guy and thinks the cops were wrong.. I totally disagree, if you see the entire video you see this guy MAJORLY resisting arrest.. it took thre cops to get this guy on the ground and he would NOT put his hands behind his back.. the cops had to beat him with the night sticks.. I knew the guy was on drugs.
What should the cops have done, said 'oh ok you dont want to be arrested, well ok just waalk away'
If your going to commit a crime you have to pay, unfortunatly this guy was so stupid he paid with his life..

IMO..this was definately NOT the police officers' fault no matter what they ruled it! He, as others have stated was a drug addict who resisted arrest. They were doing their job, they didnt hit him in the head or excessively beat him. Plus, what else were they supposed to do?? Wait around while others came while he got away? Or worse, while he attacked them??

According to the coroner, the man's death was a result of being struck by the officers - meaning that he would not have died if he had not been hit. I think that is why it was labeled a homicide by the coroner.
The man's family is talking about how 'Skipper' was so loving and gentle. Yeah, hi, Skipper was high, clearly feeling no pain and he at one point grabbed one of the officers around the neck.
If the guys head had been bashed in, my opinion might be different. But hitting a drug addict in a blind, uncontrollable rage in his legs doesn't seem excessive to me. It is unfortunate that the man died, but I really don't see what other option the police had.

i went into school the one girl was upset about the cops doing that...
then i come home and casually mention to my parents .. and they say ' the media at first didnt show all the video, you can see the guy resisting arest and the guy charging after them'...
i saw the video... the guy who died was Huge compared to the police officers, i dont think one officer could have subdued him

Suzanne, they are totally going to sue. The uproar is such a joke. This guy attacked the officers. Police should protect us but not THEMSELVES????? It is a wonder anyone is willing to become a police officer anymore.

I read a letter to the people this morning where someone said 'The war on terror should begin with the Cincinnatti Police Dept
There will absolutely be a lawsuit! It's a shame this man died and of course did not deserve to be beaten to death but the police officers were given no choice.

Tammy - Yes. I read today that a preliminary autopsy report showed the beating as the cause of death.

I feel bad for the guy he was a sick man that does not constitute that beating. Unfortunately people do not look @ drug addiction a sickness but it is read Bill W the Dr's opinion.....

Actually what they said about the beating was that 'the stress of the beating may have been a contributing factor to the man's death, but that the primary cause of death was a heart condition (enlarged heart), agravated by the use of cocaine and PCP'
I am sorry but I don't know any sweet people running aroung high off coke and pcp and lunging at cops!
I hope if they sue that they get no money. It is getting sickening what jurys award to people. Hopefully a judge won't even let it get that far.

No your right they shouldnt be rewarded but because of his drugg use that makes him mean ???? No just sick ..... He lunged at the cops but he was not in his right frame of mind would he have done that normally we'll never know he is dead. Yes I agree the cops were in danger but then shoot and end it quickly not beat to death that is an excruciating way to die ....IMO

Shooting to 'end it quickly' is murder 1, I believe...they weren't beating him for the purpose of killing him, they beat him to sbdue him and unfortunately he died. JMO

I dont think it was the officers intention to beat him to death.
unfortunatly when you are a cop you are faced with things like this everyday.
Drug addiction is a disease, but when it gets to the point where you are resisting arrest to that point, when does it stop? I guess when he would have killed someone for the drugs..
All i can say is many many to the officers and I hope they get reinstated quickly!

watching the video that was not subduing that was a staight up beating. I am just saying, I am probably not right but that is what my heart says I FEEL BAD that it I just think it looks bad for them (PD) and I am sure there was another alternative, what if was your family member I always try to look at how I would feel if it were me.

I'm sorry but drug addiction is not a disease in my opinion. It is a choice. You choose to use drugs and the fact that your body becomes physically dependent on them is well known before you make that choice.
No one chooses to have cancer.

Not all drug addicts resist arrest or take agressive actions towards cops.
The officers did what they had to do under the circumstances they were in and I'm sure is wasn't something they wanted to do.
Have you ever tried to put yourself in the officers' shoes?

Actually it is a disease look it up in a medical book it is a inherited gene, just like cancer your born with it if you smoke it increase it but drugs and alcohol is unknown gene....seriousl that is a very silly statement
