The walk.. Here Comes the Bride or something else?

Just curious but... who *isnt* having 'here comes the bride' fully played?

I've always loved Pacabelle's Canon (classical)
Makes me feel floaty surreal when I hear it.

Any thoughts, suggestions or ideas?

I think I'm going with Canon in D...or there is one other that my DJ played for me but now I can't remember which it is. When I go home tonight, I'll look and will get back to you.

Thank you thank you thank you.

I thought it was just me who wanted something else.

I'm also walking down to canon in D - I love it. It does sound like such floating, surreal kind of music. I felt it was dramatic for my entrance.

BTW, apparently thats what the daughter walks down to in Father of the Bride. (I had no idea, but everyone I've mentioned Canon in D says that!)

Canon in D (Pachabel) is for my MOH..... Air on G String (Bach) for my walk & Beethoven's 9th (Ode to Joy Aria) for recessional.

I honestly don't like here comes the bride... musically,it is not a pretty song - JMO.

I'm using Pachelbels Canon in D also... i don't care for 'here comes the bride'

wasn't wagner a Nazi (or anti- semite) anyway? that wouldn't be too tasteful with FH's family... (anyone see Curb Your Enthusiasm when he hummed Wagner)

My best friend had Canon in D for the BMs. I think it's beautiful and would be wonderful to walk down the aisle to.

I've heard the same things about Wagner, so I'm thinking that I'll have to use something else for my wedding to appease my mother. Besides, I think it's the little touches of originality or breaking with certain traditions that make a wedding special and memorable.

I walked in to Kenny G's 'The Wedding Song'. One of our friends played piano and another played Saxophone. It sounded beautiful, and was original.

My step-mother walked in to Pachebel's Canon at my father's wedding over 20 years ago. I walked in to 'I Will' by the Beatles.

I used Canon in D. I cry everytime I hear 'Here Comes the Bride'...

I am having Pacbell's Canon in D.

I have heard a James Galway (flute) version and other versions. I think I might choose james Galway. It is very 'floaty' sounding. I love it.

JulyBaby -

I'm a hugh Beatle freak 'I will' is an intresting choice. Very upbeat.

We (rather I) joked about having them play 'all you need is love' as we leave.

And I've always wanted to sing to my dad on my wedding day 'Maybe I'm Amazed' but instead say Daddy I'm Amazed... the song would stay the same, but the chorus would be

Daddy Im your girl
Im your little girl whose in the middle of something
Daddy I really need a hand

Daddy Im your girl
and Daddy youre the only one who could ever help me.
Wont you please give away my hand

Or some such nonsense...
Then everything I used Daddy instead of Maybe in that song I started to cry .... so I gave up. hehehe

For those who don't know the words to Maybe I'm Amazed...
Maybe I'm Amazed by Paul McCartney

Maybe I'm amazed at the way you love me all the time
Maybe I'm afraid of the way I love you
Maybe I'm amazed at the way you pull me out of time
hung me on the line
Maybe I'm amazed at the way I really need you

Maybe I'm a man,
Maybe I'm a lonely man who's in the middle of something
that he doesn't really understand

Maybe I'm a man
Maybe you're the only woman who can ever help me
baby, won't you help me to understand

Maybe I'm a man
Maybe I'm a lonely man who's in the middle of something
that he doesn't really understand

Maybe I'm amazed at the way you're with me all the time
Maybe I'm afraid of the way I'll leave you
Maybe I'm amazed at the way you help me sing my song
right me when I'm wrong
Maybe I'm amazed at the way I really need you

We're doing something more untraditional...just haven't decided on the genre yet - either classical (still) or jazz. We did, actually, toss around leaving to 'Maybe I'm Amazed'. We're getting married at our reception hall and having our band play for the ceremony (as well as CH & reception) so we have a wide range of choices...and (thankfully) LOTS of time to decide.

I'm actually not allowed to use Here comes the Bride. I am going to also be using Canon in D.

I walked down to Music for the Royal Fireworks by Handel (we had a string trio), and my bridal party walked down to Jesu, Joy of Music by Bach. The recessional was Enter the Queen of Sheba by Handel.
