So like what most people do we are not inviting people with guests unless they are in serious relationships or if they are married blah blah
My sister (MOH) cannot believe I am not inviting her with a guest. She is almost in tears everytime it comes up.
She is 22 has never had a relationship and dates a different guy every week and tells me she can 'find' a date for the wedding. I say oh ok like I want some random guy from your gym at my wedding. I told her if she has a BF for a while by then he can come obviously.
I told her she will be to occupied to just bring anyone and that guy will just feel awkward.
My grandma thinks I am wrong and that she is the MOH and she needs someone to 'dance with'
Since it seems to be starting alot of issues I would maybe just say that only the members of the bridal party can bring a guest and keep it to that - guests at your wedding don't get to bring a date unless its their husband/engaged/ or dating someone for a long time. That is what I am doing...

Re: the whole 'with guest' dilema
I think with some people you have to make exceptions however if u know someone is not in a relationship I don't think u have to invite them with a guest. I personally don't want cats and dogs at my wedding and I think by inviting someone with a guest who's not in a serious relationship will cause them to bring anyone. I personally don't want to spend more money on cats and dogs. Call me insensitive but u have to cut the list somewhere.

Im kinda having that issue too. I would say you just cant bring along someone you hardly know. I mean your goin to be having a good time, she probably will forget about her date since she barely knows him.

I'm probably not normal, but I think you should make the exception. She is MOH and the wedding will be alot of money and work for her...if her having fun really depends on having a date -- let her bring one. Just tell her she better cover his plate! LOL
Most people wont agree with me, but I also think everyone should get a +1. I am struggling with this myself b/c I want to cut my list...but I feel too bad not inviting people with a date
ITA, we are inviting everyone in the bridal party with a guest

i dont think if you invite her with a guest you have to invite EVERYONE with a guest. She is your sister.

When I was MOH in my sisters wedding I was seeing someone. I was not in a serious relationship with this guy. And I felt the same way as your sister and my sister had the same feelings as you. She did allow me to bring him it was an exeception to the rule. I was very glad she did. Now he was not some random guy from the gym and knew a few people there. I think you should make the exception if she understands and agrees that she is your MOH before she is 'His Date'. If you can come to an agreement about that I think it would be fine to have her bring someone.
Wow...never thought of the MOH vs. Date thing. Thank God my MOH is married!! LOL Now if we can just convince FMIL that bringing a married man is UNACCEPTABLE then I may come in off the ledge!

Im the same way. Im inviting just about everyone with guest. I also dont have a huge guest list so having the extra people isnt hurting as much. I dont want anyone to feel uncomfortable being by themselves when they should be having fun.

It really isn't about her 'duties' as MOH I have a DOC it is just the point if I do it for her I do it for everyone
Eh not really. Shes your sister and your MOH. If other people cant understand that then its their problem not yours.

I agree on this. We were originally going to invite everyone w/ a guest - but are quickly realizing that isn't going to happen in order to keep our numbers down. Bridal party is a different story though!

Re: the whole 'with guest' dilema
i have made the except for my bridal party and some close friends. Two of my bms and a few close friends don't have serious boyfriends, but will feel left out if I don't invite them with guest. A few other people won;t really change my numbers. I would make the exception for her if I were u. jmo

Re: the whole 'with guest' dilema
i had the same disargeement with my sister (she is 21 & my MOH). when we first made our list she was recently out of a long relationship & told everyone that she would never date anyone again. so we didn't include her with a guest. the MOH has a lot to do at the wedding & doens't need to be worried about entertaining a guest. she has since been dating someone (~6 months) so he has made his way onto the list. however FHs friends who will be groomsmen & who do not have serious relationships at this moment are currently not invited with guests.

i agree with rita. you dont want to bring someone just to bring someone for a few reasons. 1- they dont knwo anyone and its your sister so i'm sure she will be all over the place at the wedding and he'll just be sitting there or she will have to babysit him so he isnt uncomfortable 2-if he has no meaning in her life and he's just being brought to have a date then its not worth the extra money you have to pay for his plate
i agree that if she has a bf at the time then invite him then

Re: the whole 'with guest' dilema
I am inviting everyone over 18 with a guest. My sister was going to do the no guest thing for her wedding which caused a lot of drama and ended with her eloping.
I dont think its a big deal to let people bring a guest I would feel funny going to a wedding or any even especially if you dont know a lot of people alone.
I would atleast make the exception for your sister she is your MOH and nobody has to know you broke your rule for her. She deserves it.

Re: the whole 'with guest' dilema
Yup.. i'll jump on the bandwagon and say because she is your sister and MOH making an exception for her is ok. If other people complain tuff.. they aren't your sister or your MOH.

Rita, maybe just consider making the exception. Tell her, 'Ok. I'll think about it.' And hopefully that drops the issue for a little while, then you can decide when the wedding gets closer.

i def dont think that everyone should get a +1 but the bridal party (especially a sibbling in the bp) IMO should be an exception.
i def think the bridal party is the exception to the rule. they are there for you, and in return they should feel comfortable the day of your wedding. when everyone is on the dance floor slow dancing, you dont want to have your sister/MOH left out. even if she just winds up bringing a good friend, it will make her happy...and the happier the MOH is, the happier she will make sure the bride is!
in our case, my MOH is the only girl not in a serious relationship, but she will definately have a +1 if she chooses to use it. she may not. who knows. as for the groomsmen, most of them are NOT in a relationship...so they may all go stag together. iguess it depends where we are next year around this time...
are the other girls in your BP in a relationship? if its all single women, then i think that is another story...
