i got a Xmas ornament

me too and im jewish
i actually felt that since there were over a dozen jewish people at the wedding it was kind of insulting as if we didnt' matter
i mean, what were we supposed to do with it???

I am not jewish, but FH is and I agree that x-mas ornaments are not always the best idea. Especially if you know there are jewish people there.

Although I LOVE X-mas ornaments and have an obsession with this.

Your right I wouldn't even think of giving xmas ornaments...what are some that don't celebrate xmas (not just the jewish) going to do with them?

One of my FAV favors was a DIY favor that I knew took my friend FOREVER to make. It was a flowerpot with a pack of seeds. The seeds had a personalized label on them and there was a sticker on the bottom of the pot!!!

i am doing something similar...you stepped up the game by adding the pot....nice!!

Re: the worst wedding favor..

its true
there will always be people that dont like someone else's idea
i dont like donations as favors and i have mentioned this before
in my opinion, it is not a way to 'thank' your guests for coming but hey, to each their own

i dontate to lots of charities throughout the year and i personally dont feel that my wedding is appropriate for such a statement

different people = different opinions

Thanks for the idea, but I already have 100 crystal dishes sitting in my garage so I want to use them. Just trying to figure out how to prevent my favors from appearing here next year! LOL

Maybe you can get Christmas scented potpourri (like cinnamon or vanilla or spice) and include a little satchel in the dish?

People can set those out for the holidays on an entryway table or in the living room, etc...

i like the idea - i know all of my guests and i know that they all have christmas trees. i dont know what kind of person would give ornaments to people who don't celebrate christmas? i mean if i am inviting you to my weddingfor god sakes it means that i know you well enough to know if celebrate the holiday!

Re: the worst wedding favor..

i didn't read through ALL of the posts on here... but just a note --

our favors were mugs.... the 'soup cup' mugs (like from Friends) -- they said 'hayley and steve jarrin' and our date on one side.... and the other side said 'a cup of coffee shared with a friend is happiness tasted and time well spent'

people LOVED them! so much so that after the wedding, people asked if we had any extras that they could have.

there are SO many uses for mugs - and it was meaningful to us. first, because we are avid coffee drinkers, and second, because we buy mugs from every place that we visit (different countries, vacations, etc).

people have used our mugs for MANY reasons... not just coffee. people have told me that they use theirs for ice cream, soup, to hold all of the pens/pencils on their desk, to hold their makeup brushes, to hold the packets of splenda they keep in their kitchen.... ETC.

i think some hasty generalizations have been made...

there's always going to be someone who doesn't like something you are doing for your wedding; however tact and proper etiquette can keep people's feelings from being hurt. JMO.
