The worst wedding horror has happened to me

Original post by lisalisa27

Im in tears right now. I can't believe this. I called today to see if my video was ready only to find out my videographer had some kind of malfunction with his camera and there was no footage on the video. It sounds like a bunch of crap to me but Im too disturbed to figure it out.

He was great at the wedding and video everything. He even had a big monitor that showed what he was taping how could this be.

He states he will be returning my money in full but I don't have those memories I was so looking forward to seeing. Im so upset right now.

i am so sorry!!! hopefully someone else was taking some video with their cameras or something.

i don't know if you have done this already, but you should write everything down in a diary/journal so you have your actual memory of it. i'm sure that's tough to think about, but if you can write it all down as you remember it, that will be a beautiful keepsake that you can pass down.

Re: The worst wedding horror has happened to me

Thanks guys for all you warm wishes. Im very, very emotional right now. I know many of you are asking what company this was. It was not a very well known company but the videographer was said to be very good and he was very good at the wedding at least I thought.

Also I know alot of you are stating to get a slideshow of pics. Im already get that with my photographer company which was 12th night. I will do a complete review when I get myself together and it will include the Videographer's name. But being that I am looking into a possible law suit at this time I perfer not to put the name on here. If you would like to know who the company is feel free to fM me and I will share.

Also no one really video anything at my wedding.

Thanks again for all the support on here.

Any lawyers reading this please let me know if I have a case.

I am really sorry about your video. I hope everything works out and your photographer is able to put something together for you.

You totally have a case; the contract you signed was for a service - which wasn't rendered. And caused you severe emotional damage. I'd suggest posting this on the Newlyweds and 06 boards, anyone there might have had a similar experience, they might have a great suggestion for you?
I'll still pray that something can be done to ease this for you and FH though:

You never know about video, a lot of people use the video feature on their digital cameras. It won't be the best, but just in case, make some calls, send out some emails.

Re: The worst wedding horror has happened to me

I noticed you were wondering if you had a case...

Basically this would be considered a breach of contract...you paid for a service and expected a product....considering that you did not receive the product, you would have damages in the amount that you paid for the service. If you are being reimbursed the entire amount you paid (which you should), you received everything a court of law would award you.

Do you have a contract? Check if there is a provision in the contract that would tell you what you would get in this situation. Your best bet in my view is to find out the videographer's insurer and place a claim with them. If you were completely refunded money, a court cannot do anything else for you, especially because it is a somewhat believable claim that the equipment malfunctioned. You can probably see what this person will do for you in addition...this is so terrible

Lastly, you might be able to place a claim with the maker of his equipment, because even if you sued and won, he could seek contribution from the manufacturer.

I would place a claim with his insurance for this. I wish I could tell you that a lawsuit is a good idea, but I cannot see you wasting money on a claim that would not likely succeed (you have a much better chance, because insurance is made for things like this) FM me if I can help more!

Some hugs
