Re: Themes

We did a couple of themes. We are both actors so we wanted to incorporate our theatrical backgrounds. My dress was very 'Juliet-ish' or 'Princess Bride-ish'. Our programs we designed like Playbills with headshots and bios of the BP and our parents. OUr Rehersal dinner invitations were theatre tickets. We named the tables after shows that we have been in since we met.

Our other theme was black and white. The BP was dressed in B&W. Our favors were B&W cookies. WE also had a B&W wedding cake.

Snowflakes is kinda our theme - unofficially.

Invites have snowflakes in the boarder.

Favors are a snowflake ornament.

I'm tring to figure out how to have snowflakes on the place cards.

My theory is (after it has snowed, a lot, the first weekend in December for each of the past 3 years) the more snowflakes I incorporate into our wedding day, the more I can ward off the real snow.

Any suggestions to add to this theme greatly appreciated.

Love that 4 seasons theme!!!!!

Michael's has these great hole punchers in all sorts of shapes. If you use white/ ivory paper for the place cards then you can punch snowflakes into them!

We're having a swing theme!

Here's what we're doing:
- 11 piece swing band (that can play other types of music too)
- Tables named after swing songs
- Escort cards, menus, etc. will use retro style fonts
- Our reception card had the sheet music for 'It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing' printed on it, with a vellum overlay.
- I will be changing into a more 'swingable' dress for the reception
- Our first dance songs will be 'Dancing Cheek to Cheek' with Ella and Louis singing (we'll start off slow dancing), which will then change to 'Sing, Sing, Sing' (with swing dancing!)
- Bridesmaids are wearing black
- Cake will be black and white
- We're giving out CD favors with our favorite swing music
- We're having our dance instructor teach our guests the basic swing steps.

I think that's it!

Looks to me you need to change your little quote up there --- you seem to be VERY decisive!
Sounds great!

We are doing a fall theme for our Nov wedding with some hints of Irish traditions in it.

Our cake will be decorated with fall leaves and pumpkins. Our BM dresses will be in a cranberry color
Flowers will be in all dark 'fall-ish' colors
Favors are mini maple syrup bottles in the shape of a maple leaf
Hall will be decorated with pumpkins and leaves
As for the hints of Irish, my tiara has shamrock in it, our cake topper is a couple holding a shamrocks, our toasting flutes have claddaghs etched on them. Our cake serves and knife match our toasting flutes.
FI wedding band will be a band with Celtic knots in it.
We will also have bagpiper & drums play as we enter the reception hall.

We are having a slight Cinderella theme since I'm a complete Disney nut and we were engaged by the castle. I don't want to over do it though, so we are having castle STD's, invitations with a castle at the top, a glass slipper on the ring bearer's pillow, Cinderella and Prince toasting flutes and a Lenox Cinderella and Prince caketopper. (My gown kind of looks like the Lenox Cinderella's dress that the birds and mice made, too!!) Besides that, I don't know what to do. I don't want to give Cinderella themed favors or anything because most people won't have a use for it.
