Military

Our wedding is July 5, 2002 and since my husband to be.. will have just graduated the Air Force Academy we are having a military wedding. Our groomsmen along with our saber bearers are a salute to the military itself. Joe went to Air Force, but did an exchange program at NAVY and while he was there meet some great guys from West Point. Well orginally my plan was for a rainbow wedding for my girls but instead the guys will be all different since we will have AF, NAVY, ARMY and the Marines all in attendance! Since it is close to the holiday we thought about doing Red, White and Blue... but I have my girls wearing a butter shade plus it is july and I want it to look summery. Our Rehearsal is on the 4th though and we got favors for that, they are suncatchers with the AF ensigna, we figured we would do it that way b/c we didn't know if all 200+ guests at the wedding would appreciate them. We are both irish though so we saw this great invite with a Clauddagh on it and we love it, so we are doing that as well! Laurie:)

Themes- Americana - Barbara

Thank You Diana for your comments. Glad you liked the idea, let's hope everyone else does. I think they will, my family is pretty patriotic. Your idea sounds cute, as well. Just like you, I probably would have done the same theme if my wedding were in December too. :) My Dj will be passing out flags too. I also bought a pack of those little toothpick flags, I just don't know what to do with them yet. Any ideas??

Barbara - toothpick flags

I'm having a July 4th wedding next year, and looking to incorporate some patriotic things into the reception. I got those flags too, planning to use them for the seating cards. (Like the drink parasols on the Martha Stewart website.) Attach the name and table # to a piece of paper on the toothpick, and then put in styrofoam. I haven't figure out how to decorate the foam yet so it looks nice. What invitations did you find with the stars on them? I saw these, but my fiancee thinks they aren't weddingish enough. http://www.gaddisdesign.com/starry.html

Clpunch - toothpick flags

That's a cute idea about the toothpick flags but I already have an idea for my placecards. I might just stick them in my centerpieces. About the invitations, the ones that I found were from a real wedding invitation catalog at a stationary store. However, stupid me didn't write down the name of the book. So my fiance is going to go back to the store and look through all of the books until he finds it. I promise to write you a special post when he does. They were pretty though. It was off-white paper and contained tiny silver stars sort of circling the wording. Simple but elegant. Are you doing a patriotic theme also? What ideas are you using?

Barbara - patriotic theme

We are going to do something patriotic, but we haven't really thought about it too much yet. I was hoping that the florist would be able to help me there! I've heard about sparklers in the centerpieces, but I don't think that my hall will let us. I need to ask. I'd like the invitation to be kinda patriotic, but subtle. The one you found sounds perfect! We will be able to see fireworks from our reception hall, so I'm pretty excited about that. I'm hoping that we can get some good pics with the fireworks in the background that we can use for the thank you picture.

Clpunch - patriotic theme

I was also thinking of having some type of sparkler effect in the centerpieces but my wedding is in the daytime and it looked too expensive. I doubt I would have been able to anyway since John Anthony's is a smoke-free facility. I wanted to tell you that I found some cute patriotic paper that I am going to order and use for my Save-The-Date cards. Here's the link.... http://www.creativedesignsol.com/stationary/cgi-bin/MyStore/perlshop.cgi?ACTION=THISPAGE&THISPAGE=patrioticLH2.htm&ORDER_ID=218366200
