They did NOT hold the date!!

They did NOT hold the date!!

I just went this weekend to Hamlet at Willow Creek in Mount Sinai. We asked to hold a date in August 2005, which Barbara, the coordinator there, stated we could do. She said she would hold the date for a week. However, we got home to find a message that someone else had come in 'money in hand' and she was 'obligated' to give them the date. (this was less than 24 hours after we saw her!) So...they'll hold the date as long as no one else comes along??

I think this is so unprofessional and she went back on her word!! Has this happened to anyone else?!?!?! Sorry--needed to vent.

That would piss me off!!!! I would not do business with them. They should have warned you if this would occur...

Whoa! That is totally unprofessional! She should have given you the opportunity to take the date first. That 'money in hand' comment sounds like BS to me. And if that is true, then that's all they care about. They don't sound like they care too much about customer satisfaction.

Sheesh! That's a very convenient way for them to 'hold the date!' Sorry to hear that.

Re: They did NOT hold the date!!

That is very rude and I think she should have called you first... I had an appointment to see a place with a specific date in mind (which the lady told me was open)... when I got there, she took me through the whole thing and at the end after we were possibly interested, she told me that date was booked... They can all be rude.

That is completely unprofessional, the least she could have done is given you a courtesy call.

They should have been very clear of what their interpretation of 'hold the date was'

Sorry about that.

Sorry to say this but I think it is common..I found that when I was talking to halls about dates and putting holds on dates they all pretty much said I can hold it but if someone come is with a deposit it is theirs. I did also see that they would only put it on hold for 1 or 2 days, not a week.

yeah my hall let me leave a deposit to hold it and we had 48 hours to change our mind and get the deposit back if we wanted.

So sorry this happened. I really believe the right thing to do would have been at least give you a phone call. It is a rude thing to do!!

Re: They did NOT hold the date!!

That happened to me at the Harrison House. As soon as we got home my father called Bill the BM and told him that we were extremely interested and would he give us first right to refusal. He said no problem. A day later we kept calling and calling to tell him we wanted to book and give them a deposit and this jerk was avoiding us like the plague. My mother kept saying she had a feeling the gave the day away and she was right!!!! I was so upset but refused to book another day after treating us that way!

I'm so sorry this happened to you. They definitely should have called. There are plenty of great places out there. Good Luck to you!
