Things I am glad I have as a new mother

I thought maybe this would help a few of the moms-to-be.
I am glad that I have:
-(2) Halo Sacks. They are blankets that zip around the baby and are great for cold weather. Since you cannot use big, bulky blankets with newborns these really help to keep the baby super warm.

-the pads you put on top of the crib/bassinet sheets. They are a lot cheaper than sheets so you can get a few of these and not need as many sheets.

- gowns. I love these little gown sleepers. Again, for cold weather newborns most of my gowns have hand 'covers' so her little hands don't get cold. And they make changing diapers in the middle of the night much easier than trying to figure out a ton of snaps on her outfit.

-Bundle Me
I LOVE this thing. We only went out 3 times so far but it is super cold and this thing keeps baby toasting warm without a ton of bulk. And when I get inside I don't have to unbundle her and then re-bundle her to go back out.

-My boppy pillow
It makes feeding her a lot easier and holding her easier too. Claud also gave me a cover- which I recommend getting. So when we had a bit of a mishap with a bottle my boppy was covered and I just had to throw the cover in the wash. Boppy was saved :D

-Nursing Mother's Companion
This book, lent to me by Claud, has been a life saver. I brought it to the hospital too and it was a very helpful resource especially when we started to run into problems.

-My own pillows in the hospital
I know some people say it doesn't matter but for me it really did. I had my own pillow with me the whole time (except for inside the OR) and I was a lot more comfty. Plus I needed more than the 2 I was given at the hospital just to try to get comfortable so that was also another reason I was glad I had them with me. I brought 2 from home. Just don't have white pillow cases on them so the cleaning folks know they are your personal pillows.

Anyway, I thought this might help a few of you getting ready for baby.

Great post, Michele. Your own pillows at the hospital is a DEFINITE must!! I brought 2, too!

Sean sleeps in his Halo sleepsack every night. We have blue and yellow. I know they make ones w/ patterns, but I haven't seen them anywhere. Have you? (Santa's going to be bringing 1 or 2 of the 'large' size )

Boppy was saved

Yay Boppy!! That line just struck me as so cute.

Great advice Michele. Im sure the new Moms to be appreciate the advice, as does this 'BTDT' mom. I didnt know about the Bundle Me when I first had Luke otherwise I would have gotten one.

Definitely take your own pillow to the hospital. I did and was very happy I did.

I love all those things too, but I really love the gown sleepers!! It really is a breeze to change him in the middle of the night quickly
