My point is you talk about losing today and losing 2 out of 3 as if the Tigers had a difficult game today. And Mussina isn't that great this year so beating the crap out of him isn't a hard thing to do.

Just wondering, how did the Mets do against Kansas City a couple of weeks ago? Didn't they lose 2 out of 3 to the team that has the second worst record in baseball? Even worse record then the Tigers?

The Mets are playing well right now. I'm not doubting that. The Yankees are playing crappy, it happens. But when you're 7 games ahead of Boston-or the 2nd place team-you can afford to play crappy for a week. And even with dropping 5 of the last 6 games they still have the best record in baseball.

Very well said!! Let's go Yanks!

Ok, we did lose 2 out of 3 to Kansas, Ill give you that. But my question to you is, were playing really good right now, what makes you think that is going to change? The smartest thing we did was pick up Hidalgo.

It should be a interesting summer. Im looking forward to October.

Its kind of ironic.. How the Yankees had the best player in history some guy name Babe, and they have the best player in baseball now. Some guy name A-ROD! I think the Mets and their fans are still bitter for not signing him.

Re: This board

I never said the Mets wouldn't continue to play well. As a matter of fact I have said many times that if the Mets could get some bullpen help they would have a team good enough to compete this year. Hidalgo was a huge help. Looper is an above average closer. The Mets should make a trade that would give them another good SP and a good RP. They should trade Piazza to an AL team (like Boston) and get some good pitching. Boston needs a first baseman and they do have this guy called Pedro who's contract expires at the end of the season and shows no promise of re-signing with the Sox.

You're confusing me with other fans. I very rarely talk poorly about the Mets. I don't hate the Mets, I have enough anger towards the Sox. I get upset when Mets fans talk bad about the Yankees. I don't understand why Mets fans hate the Yankees as much as they do. I also don't understand why Mets fans try to get on the Yankees as soon as they drop a game. Yes the Yankees are playing really bad right now. Yes they should have taken 2 out of 3 if not sweep the Tigers. But you don't panic when you're a Yankee fan and your team has a 7 game lead over Boston.

The Mets are better off for not signing A-Rod. He wanted too much money and the Mets would of given up way too much for him. One player does not make that much of a difference. The fans should be more upset that the Mets didn't give Vlad the money he wanted. That was a stupid choice by upper management. 6 years for $72 million for Vlad? In today's day and age that's a bargain deal. That's less money then Piazza makes, he's much younger and the numbers don't even compare. They should have signed Vlad and traded Piazza, they could great some great players for Piazza.

As I said, it's easy to have a 7 game lead when you play sub-par teams

And lately, you can't even beat them

when you can be 2 games over .500 and only be 2 games out of first, that's really not a tough division.

I dont hate the die hard Yankee fans who have been with them from the start, were still cheering when they were in last place.

The people that annoy me are the ones who in 1996 all of a sudden jumped on the Yankee bandwagon and were all about 'Lets Go Yankees, Lets Go Yankees' Those people are totally fake and will probably disappear once they start losing.

Agreed. I hate those Yankee fans as well. And I hate fans of any team in any sport who does that. Stick by your team through good and bad. I think you and I have both shown that we are true fans. Actually a lot of people on this site have shown that over the last couple of months.

You want to talk about sticking to your team. For football I'm a Buffalo Bills fan. Now that's a hard team to be a fan of. I'm not even from Buffalo. DH got me into them when we started dating. I hate him for it. They have been awful for the last couple of years and we have not only stuck by them-we've actually gone up to Buffalo to see them. Of course they lost every game we've gone to. But we still love them.

I can sympathize, DH is a New York Jets fan. I never watched football until we started going out. I think Herman Edwards is too soft on these guys.

You only listed one team as well so I felt I only needed to list one.

As far as it being a competitive division, you're reaching and you know you are. The NL central is a competitive division. The AL West, with the exception of Seattle, is a competitive division. As a baseball fan, nothing at all to do with the Mets, the NL East is a weak division this year. I predict that the team that wins that division is out of the first round of playoffs. In the NL central Houston is 2 games over .500 and 9 games out of first place. The Mets are now 3 games over .500 and they are a game out of first. I'm sorry but that is not a hard division.

So you know what my biggest fear about my wedding is?

That a world series game will be played on my wedding day and I will have to choose between my reception and a sports bar to watch my Yankees play!!

I don't think the Thatched Cottage has TVs!!

Ha!!!

When we were having a rough time picking a date, FH was adamant against October, then last October I finally figured out why when all the B2Bs were posting about World Series vs. Weddings! I felt for those girls.

And with that, I'll give you a little joke:

What's the difference between the hot dogs at Yankee Stadium and those at Fenway?

The hot dogs in Yankee Stadium are served in October.

Lauren - I'll check at the Thatched Cottage this weekend and see if you can get a TV as an 'add on' at the reception !!

I know exactly what you mean about the risks of getting married in October, though

Back in 1998 one of my friends got married the during the World Series vs. San Diego.. NOONE wanted to be at the reception because of the game Cheryl (my friend) was not a baseball fan and was SO annoyed that everyone kept leaving the reception to hit the bar to hear the score! Even on her video you have to witness the DJ keeps continually making announcments , las if he was a a play by play commentator. SHe was SO unhappy, poor thing

Re: This board

thankfully, the Yankees were eliminated in 2002 before we got married

If they had been playing, I was gonna have the DJ make score update, but only if the Yanks were losing
