I got a quote from a DJ and Im not sure if it is too much or just right. What do you girls think....?
I was quoted $1500 for 51/2 hours of music. Thats it. Nothing more nothing less. Since he came recommended by FH family I told them to go ahead and send me a contract. Can I decide not to sign and let them know it is too much for what they are offering or am I stuck?
Any words of wisdom are greatly appreciated. I hope I didnt just mess up!!!

If you don't want him you don't have to sign the contract. I would search around just to make sure he is the one you want. It is a little expensive (but not too much that it's unreasonable), but if you know that's what you really want, then any price is worth i.

That does seem high for just music, there was another post on here where people said what they are paying look in that thread and compare.

Well...I am paying about $1500 for 6 hours of music, lights and a dinner singer. So I'd say you could probably get a better deal. But, I don't think its completely outrageous of a price. If you liked the DJ and you know they come highly recommended, I'd go for it.

It's def. not an outrageous price, but it doesn't hurt to look around either!
You aren't obligated to anything before you sign.

I believe you're playing a tad bit too much. For that price, you could at the very least get a DJ, MC, Party favors, and lights...

Re: This doesnt seem right
I'm paying 1600 for only 4 hours, but I adore my DJ and the company is world class.
Its really the only entertainment I'm providing and I'm not doing wedding reception games and such (like garter etc)
I wanted to be sure the music was well choreographed, and interesting. Its 600 more than I was planning on spending but I think it will be well worth it.
So I would say, if you LOVE your DJ, then its a reasonable price.

I honestly don't think it's that high a price, but if you aren't comfortable, hold off on signing the contract and meet with other DJs.

That is very high for just music. We went to FM Entertainment and for 5hrs just music it was $750.00.

Re: This doesnt seem right
We used Variety Music and paid just over 1200 and had a DJ, MC and lighting package for 5hrs. So I think you can definetly do better.

OMGGGGGGGGGGGG that is great Price! Book it now what are you waiting for ..
I just have to edit to say this.. I don't know what your looking to have excatly. If the DJ is good and reputable that is a VERY good price.
Everything is relative to your budget price ofcourse. I shoped around a lot and well I paid $3,500 total. Intelligent lighting was included , plus he did 1/2 hour extra plus he also did my ceremony + cocktail hour.
Just to give you an idea. Not including a tip. YES YOU DO HAVE TO TIP YOU DJ. unless he stinks

NOIF YOU DIDNT SIGN A CONTRACT YOU SHOULD BE FINE. IF THEY CALL JUST TELL THEM YOU HAVENT MADE A DECISION YET. THEN LOOK AROUND & SEE IF YOU COULD FIND BETTER. WHICH YOU TOTALLY CAN!

That's a tough one..especially since it came as a recommendation...I would speak it over with your fiance first. You don't want to insult anyone if you don't use them. I would really pick he DJ you feel most confident about...,

It seems a bit high to me, but you're not obligated to anything until you sign and return that contract. So take your time, look over the contract, and before you send it back, maybe get price quotes from a couple of other vendors. Maybe even just put up a post on vendors helping brides and see what they come back to you with.
