This question has been posted SO many times-Hair and Makeup

Ladies, I have a dilema - I had my trial with Elena yesterday and she is such a cool lady but I absolutely hated the makeup - it felt so 'caked' on and un-natural - my hair came out nice, but I want to keep looking. I was there for 3 1/2 hrs. Iwant a trendy messy hair updo and light fresh makeup. Nothing to major - can anyone, PLEASE, recommend someone for both. My cousin has a friend who does makeup and I'm going to try her, but I was hoping for some more recommendations. The only thing is that I don't want someone who requires a minimium of 3 girls or something. I don't expect my girls to HAVE to get all done up if they don't want to. Any recommendations?

Try Jackie at IMakeupyou...

She did a magnificent job on my makeup. I don't wear much and she made me look great without my feeling like my face was a mask. She has a hairdresser that she works with named Margaret who does a great job on hair. Jackie is listed in the vendors section of this board. I have never heard a bad review of her work!

Bocu Salon - Commack...

A friend of my works there and she will be doing my hair at my house, but I think they open for you if you need (she lives 2 blocks from my parents house, so this would be easier...) SHe also told me that the make-up woman at the salon does makeup for professional photo shoots...I don't know her work, but I hear its good 631-499-1300

Kristen w/ Enchante-awesome!! Avoid Cactus on Vanderbilt

She is so amazing with hair and makeup. When I went for my hair trial, she just quickly threw it around and in minutes, eventhough it wasn`t all sprayed and 'just so,' I knew she was going to do a perfect job the day of my wedding, and I was thrilled with the way it turned out the day of the wedding. She sounded so confident about my hair as she worked with it during the trial, that when I was thrilled with that, I never even thought about booking her for a makeup trial, because she sounded equally confident about my makeup. And that too turned out amazing. The foundation did not feel heavy or caked. And during the reception, when we got warm from dancing, I never felt like my makeup was running or melting. Of course, everyone will tell you that lipstick will need to be gone over through the night, and that I did need to do. I had meant to have Kristen use my lipstick, but had forgotten where I left it until after my makeup was done, so she used what she had, which actually matched the tones she used better than if she had used what I had. My mom and the girls came out great too. She did my mom, matron of honor and flowergirl. It was so cute .. my mom went first, and as she was getting done, my flowergirl (4 1/2 years old) started running around insisting she wanted to be next. And she`s generally not the type to sit and have her hair fussed with. Enchante Salon and Day Spa 220 West Main Street Smithtown 631-979-2300 I can`t really quote prices for her since I had originally booked her through Cactus Salon and Day Spa on Vanderbilt in Commack, who had given me a very hard time in getting the appointment into their books when I tried to make the appointment a few months in advance, like most people do. Kristen moved to Enchante just weeks before my wedding. Luckily she had my number and called to tell me of the move, as well as check to see if I still wanted to keep my appointment with her, which I absolutely did. She had no idea of the hard time Cactus had given me while I persisted in trying to get the appointment with her. Bottom line, I was so glad she called, because Cactus never did, and they would have just thrown us to someone without warning the day of my wedding. Talk about a bad way to start the day, and an extremely unprofessional way to do business!!! Cactus really made me feel like my wedding wasn`t important, but Kristen was the exact opposite. I`m glad she`s with this new salon, because they actually seem to care about their customers. Since it rained on our wedding day, we had our outdoor shots done on another day, on short notice. Unfortunately Kristen couldn`t squeeze me in to re-do my hair and makeup, though she made efforts to .. but she did go out of her way to make arrangements with the salon. Carmella spent so much time and was very critical of what she was doing, which I so appreciated ... and in the end we were both satisfied she did a terrific job. I did my makeup off a picture I had, and it seemed to work out okay, though obviously not as good as what Kristen did.

Did you speak with Elena about the makeup? I know when I had my trial she told me that I would have more makeup on during my trial because she wanted to try a few things and get a feel for my best colors. She assured me that on the wedding day I would have much less makeup on. You need to really speak to who ever is doing your makeup and tell them that you do not want that much on, but rather a very fresh natural look/feel. I know some girls like using the MAC makeup artists but I think they are very expensive.
