This should be on the HOME board....but

there is more traffic here...

what would you do with this room if this was the only LR area that a TV would go in....the french doors go out to the deck.

ETA: the photo is taken from the doorway when you come in the front door and the fireplace is smack dab in the middle, so what you see on the left of the fireplace is the same wallspace on the right side of it...it's one of those long rooms

nope..he said it was an LCD, maybe it was 52'...he works near a best buy, so he goes on his breaks to drool over the TV's.

I was just on Best Buy's website. Trust me when I say if it was 'LCD'... it was a rear projection LCD. The largest flat-panel LCD that Best Buy sells is a 45' from Sharp ($8000).

52' is a common size for rear projections. You can get rear projection in either DLP, LCD, D-ILA, or LCoS.

In fact I just did a search of all of ebay and there are no 52' flat LCDs out there. Found plenty of 52' LCD projections though. Its easily confuseable. They look 'flat'. They have 'flat' screens. But they are nothing more than a glorified rear-projection (those are not mountable).

If you don't believe me... tell him next time he is there to take down the model number.

Who knows... i could be wrong. But I doubt it.

I never said it definitely was a flat screen....just LCD

Which is exactly what I was trying to say and answer your mounting question.

he DOES want a 52 or 60' LCD...but it was shown with a stand in Best Buy and I don't know if it was flat screen or if it was mountable....

Its highly unlikely this model he was looking at was mountable... since 52' flat panel LCDs are pretty much nonexistant.

He was probably looking at a rear-projection LCD which requires some sort of stand... or just placed on the floor.
